A while ago I promised to post some pics of my dedicated yard plow vehicle, 87 Samurai on a shortened 77 Blazer chassis with 3/4 ton running gear.
These are three stages of evolution: 1. when first finished as a project with my then 15 year old son, 2. As a track truck with 44" swampers(son's Area 51MX track), 3. now freshly rebuilt as my yard plow truck.....Mike.

This is my 1999 Chevrolet Blazer I had for 11 Months until someone went left of center and I had to avoid a head on collision.
Blazer Before.jpg
Aaaand After. I had to crawl out the drivers window. I got 4 stitches in my right knee from getting cut on the glass crawling out. Nothing else was hurt. Hence why I bought a Trailblazer ( I just hope it fairs as well should the need ever arise to put it on its lid)

Here's me on my other passion at a time when there was snow and it was running. Right now, there is not enough snow and I don't have a starter in it.Mooseman_MP.jpg

And here it is just the week before. The one on the left is mine.

I was digging through some old hard drives and found some of my former rides.

Had the DD out for an adventure this weekend

My buddy got married so we had a lil cruise to and from the ceremony. His family is obviously into GTOs, but we had some variety and a damn good time.

Got the toy out of storage and back in my own driveway. No room in the garage yet - it is still too full of boxes n crap. The most it had moved in the last 2 years was about 100 ft. Got it out of the storage unit, tires were still within 2 psi or so of perfect. Dropped the charged battery in it and nam it fired right up.

I have driven it every day to work this week. It needs a good cleaning but a quickie $5 wash took care of the dust n grime from the storage unit pretty quickly.

Here is the story of Blüe Longroof

Well, been away for a while but looking now at another GMT360. So this isn't an OTHER vehicle, this is the current vehicle. It's a 99 Ford Taurus wagon. It's got a 3.0 L DOHC V-6 rated at 200 hp. It's got auto climate control, 6 disc changer, and all the usual power accessories. Everything works on it. It came with a 3rd row fold down rear facing seat. When I bought it there was about 110K on the odometer, and it came with all the service records. All done by the Ford dealer where it had been bought other than tires and washes (yup, came with receipts for car washes). I was pretty familiar with the model having owned two others previously. Taking it for a test drive, I noticed a slip in the transmission. The seller was with me, and told me sheepishly that, "yeah, there's a transmission problem." So after driving a few different ways, I told him that I'd like it, but I'm honest. I told him I was pretty sure it wasn't the trans but just a $20 sensor. He was adamant that the dealership told him the trans needed about $1500 of work. The car was very clean, but he'd let maintenance other than LOFs go for about 2 years since he believed it needed a transmission. He was asking $1500 for the car. I offered him $250. He seemed insulted, but I told him that if it needed a transmission, it wasn't worth much more. We settled on $350. I ordered the vehicle speed sensor ($24 delivered), installed it, and the problem was solved.

(Just after buying it)
IMG_7771.jpg
IMG_8266.jpg

I then went through everything that needed maintenance. I changed the oil and filter with Mobil 1 full synthetic and a Wix filter. I dropped the trans pan and replaced the filter and about 7 quarts of Motorcraft ATF. Replaced the front springs and struts with the pre-assembled components. Replaced the front ball joints and inner and outer tie rods. Rear shocks, brake pads and discs at all 4 corners, fuel filter, air filter were next; the plugs and wires were in good condition so I haven't replaced those yet. Got a package deal on the 6 strut supports that hold open the hood, rear glass, and rear hatch door. About 10 minutes to put them all on even with a hand that doesn't work well.

(Getting the suspension work done)
IMG_8931.jpg
IMG_8937.jpg

The headlights were pretty fogged up, so I grabbed some 600 and 1200 grit wet sand paper and some UV clear coat. Took about 2 hours to do the headlights and front turn signal lenses.

(Before and after headlights (but not washed))

During the timeframe of updating it, a potential client contacted me needing some computer work. I used to advertise that partial trade was a possibility depending on what they were offering to trade. After consulting, he asks me if I'd be open to trade. He has a restaurant but it was over 80 miles from me. He doesn't have much else to trade, asking if I needed anything. "Unless you've got Nikon camera equipment or wheels for an older Ford Taurus, I'm not interested." He had recently sold his SHO. Kept the Mille Miglia aftermarket wheels. The tires on them were the same outside diameter as the OEM recommended size. Done deal. After I put the wheels on I got a cam bolt kit installed and a 4 wheel alignment done.

(New wheels)
new-wheels1.jpg

A client that installs mobile electronics and vehicle accessories had me bring my car into the shop at Christmas time. His crew tinted the rear doors, cargo area, and hatch windows. When it came time to move, we still had a balance (we did a lot of trade). So he had me bring the car in again and sat with me to discuss. He couldn't find a faceplate to replace the OEM stereo and I didn't want to add one to the glove box or under the dash. I was fine with the OEM since I mostly streamed any way. He suggested removing the 3rd row seat where he could build a custom box for a Kenwood sub, replace the original speakers in the front doors and hatch door with 2 piece Kenwoods, add a few Kenwood amps, and a direct input as well as a bluetooth input. Bluetooth might not sound as good as a decent stereo, but it's a lot better than just the stock unit. He also added an inverter, integrating it so it's not just sitting there. I have a custom center console (ver 1.0, replacing sometime after health crisis with ver 2.0) that houses my scanner, CB, switches, AT temp, oil pressure, and volt gauges, switches, 3x DC outlet, 2x USB outlet (+ 2 on the inverter), 2 cup holders, locking storage with armrest, and the aforementioned inverter.

(New sub and amps, during install prior to rear seat reinstall and cover/grille custom

That move meant it was getting loaded up. Sold just about everything, loaded the car up - hard cargo container on the roof, cargo area, with back seat folded down, front passenger floor, and a cooler on the front passenger seat. No problems whatsoever from San Francisco, CA to Hartford, CT. Being a California car all it's life until last Fall, the underside is virtually rust free. The body is rust free and it has only a couple of small door dings, a simple scratch on the driver's door, and a scuff at the back bumper.

(New wheels, hard cargo carrier installed, unloaded)

(It needed to be washed, but I liked this shot)
IMG_9333.jpg

Well, now that I'm moved I'm looking at another GMT360. Most likely scenario will be selling the Ford after I've bought a truck. Not sure. Here though, has been the story of Blüe Longroof.

Time for an update of mine since all my other pix were removed due to me closing my photobucket account...

In 2008, I sold my Shaved and Juiced 1994 Gen II Dodge Dakota to get the SS. The Dakota was my first "project" vehicle that catapulted me into the modified world.

I dont have pix of my other daily rides while i had the Dakota but those were you typical "grandparents" type family vehicles. 1990 and a 1997 Cutlass Cierra.

My first daily (that I have pix of) since the SS is a garage queen was my mothers 2001 Grand Prix GT. By far THEE BEST VEHICLE my family and I have ever owned and if it wasn't for the northern rust that is common in the salt states, it would still be on the road today.

Next would be my '14 RS LTZ Chevy Cruze that I bought when the Grand Prix had to go. I got rid of this car due to the lack of "performance" (1.4L Turbo) if you will, but i sure miss the gas mileage it got. Surprisingly, the Cruze had the best interior room for me out of all of my vehicles.

Now my current daily is my '14 LTZ 2LZ Chevy Malibu 2.0L Turbo and this thing scoots! For a little 4 cylinder turbo I'm very impressed with the almost 300 hp/300 tq and put up a respectable 14 second 1/4 mile time at the track (equal to the SS when it was stock). Little bit more thirsty than the Cruze was, but my performance fix is there and she is pretty stylish too.104_0415.jpg104_0428.jpg20130926_140853.jpg20150308_125225.jpg20151012_141910.jpg20170218_162554.jpg20170409_143844.jpg

I was pretty sure there was another thread, found it and you actually posted to in 2011, so I have merged them.

I know, the old thread was more for pictures but trying to keep it all together. Here's one of my former rides. 1978 Z28 350 BW 4 spd
