Hello, I will be installing a Clarion VX-401 head unit soon. I don't care if my Chimes or On* work anymore. Will this wiring harness work for what I want to do?

Sure will, but it won't be 100% plug and play. You will have to wire in a switched 12v lead to the red (switched) wire of the Clarion. If you need help on this, don't hesitate to ask.

Also, good to see that they added all compatible vehicles, for the longest time that adapter was listed as fitting certain Saturn vehicles only.

Awesome, thanks. I should be able to just take 12v's from the cigarette lighter?

You could, as other TB/EV owners have had no problems doing it that way.

Personally I don't, I get switched power at the steering column harness. The reason is, modern head units with decent sized internal amplifiers can draw enough current at higher volumes to pop the cig fuse.

I don't know what I was thinking, but the cig lighters are not a switched 12v on the trailblazer.

Based on your reply I assumed you didn't want switched. Some folks have requested a constant 12v source to have a key off/radio on feature. I used to call it ghetto-RAP but some people thought it was too harsh.

I wish I knew this before I cut my harness.

Are any of the wires on the smaller harness switched or for the RAP system? I remember my last adapter had both harnesses and the chime box, I just ordered the same harness from where I got my new HU from. Sonic ran out of stock so I ordered from Onlinecarstereo.com - Wholesale Car Audio/Stereo Deals At Bargain Prices, I have heard bad things but I have never had an issue.

No, you need to tap into a switched + and you'll lose RAP
