Will newer 4l60e work in older

Update on my trans it went out lost all gears but my lil sister has 4l60e out of her 2003 tahoe she just had rebuilt before it was wrecked my question is would it work in a 1997 gmc yukon both are 4 wd just not sure what all is different if anything is different any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Not an expert here but I believe 96-03 are interchangeable. Likely there will be a few things that are upgraded but I'm pretty sure you can do an even swap.
