Why I don't trust repair shops

Suckers will be suckers. Working at a dealership, I've seen how they work. Either it's a shit employer and the employees don't give a shit, they're lazy or it's a tactic to create more work. Case in point, when doing brakes, they just let the calipers hang by the hose. Not just cars but larger trucks with super heavy calipers. And the advisors just push people into doing stuff they don't really need like brake cleanings and unnecessary alignments. The worst is that it's older people they swindle. At $200/hour, that's a lot of swindle.

It gives the shop the opportunity to first break something which then sets up the remove-&-replace quote. The twisted logic: unskilled, unethical practices generate more revenue than skilled, ethical practices!
