Discovered my oil pressure sending unit is leaking oil at the connector. Gotta try and band-aid this until I can replace it.

Installed the new FPCM. Now I get a low fuel pressure sensor input code and a programming error code. Excellent! Should be all set for the guy to program it tomorrow afternoon and we should be back on the road :wooot:

Took the front end apart. I'd say that CV was dead and the oil pickup tube O ring was pretty bad. It literally fell out of its hole, no sealing pressure at all. Currently in the process of putting new axle seals in the diff and changing other fluids. I'll post more pics later, especially of my new oil fill pump.

-Checked oil, my temporary fix for the oil pressure switch leak seems to of worked for now. New one will be here Tuesday.
-Drained and refilled coolant (ratio was off during swap)
-Replaced #5 coil pack, which didn't correct the P0305 code. I'll be replacing that spark plug tomorrow. No idea how many miles these plugs have on this motor.
-Found the NOVITA LM486 flasher relay I never installed last year, popped that in. First time without hyperflash in years lol.

Tightened up the front passenger SMAXX endlink...she was a bit loose and after talking to SMAXX they said that would be cool as they know they can loosen a bit despite supposedly being torqued correctly out of the box.

Big car repair week. Boy #2 came over with his Silverado to change the water pump. This weekend, boy #3 and I are trying to get the Saab back on the road after being down for a long time with all sorts of issues. The inspection sticker expired on 09/16 so I figure its been down for 2 full years now.

First, we changed the catalytic converters. That seems to have gone well - hopefully no codes will pop up. Yesterday we took out the front drive shaft and drove the Saab around and, sure enough, all of the noises from the front drive system were gone. Today, we are pulling the front axles and saying bye-bye to AWD. We're hoping that will be that last of the troubles with the Saab for a while.

AWD Delete seems to be successful. Drives beautifully with no noise up front. Now we are just praying that the Eval and Catalyst monitors will complete their tests so we can get it inspected. Getting the Evap test to pass seems to take forever even when following all of the drive cycle steps.

Don't even bother following the drive cycle steps IMO, they're almost impossible to do on a normal route. Just drive the truck as normal and check the evap status on an app, it'll eventually be in a green status.

Took care of the dead battery, did some spring cleaning in the engine bay, and a throttle body cleaning while I was there.

Drove it to work. 70-75 mph for 55 miles and about 10 of city driving and it showed 18 mpg average on the scangauge...really cant complain with 182K miles and a shitty alignment

So more pics as promised from the weekend work.

The intermediate axle tube/disconnect. Much better design than the GMT360 disconnect, as it has full gear oil lubrication. Next to no wear on it, no loose or broken parts (except the stub axle seal).

20180526_120750.jpg

Dropped the entire front diff to redo the axle seal on the driver side. It was easier on the ground than up in the truck. Had to drop a crossmember also. It would make it easier to get the oil pan off for replacing that oil pickup tube O ring.

20180526_132145.jpg

Of course, dropping the pan ran into the steering rack lines. Thankfully just had to remove the bolts to let the rack hang down some.

20180526_144053.jpg

That pan was nasty inside. But it cleaned up OK. Didn't get it perfectly shiny, but that's OK.

20180526_153002.jpg

20180526_160711.jpg

Put stuff back together, and used black gasket maker for a new front diff to intermediate axle housing seal.

20180526_193126.jpg

Shiny new CV axle.

20180526_203008.jpg

Hopefully that's the end of all those leaks. I still have some minor seepage in some other places (valve covers, power steering pump shaft) but all the big ones should be fixed. That passenger axle seal was slugging gear oil all over the place.

Oh, side note - don't try to one-handed drop an almost 90lb wheel/tire combo off an axle. You might crunch your finger between the wheel and the brake drum. Ouch.

20180526_133109.jpg

I used some modified garden sprayers to refill the differentials and transfer case. Much better than those pesky little pumps.

I've been redoing certain parts of my audio system piece by piece since a lot of things have been done on time crunches. So far I've corrected my rear speakers phase issue, pinned & hooked up the illumination wire, and add rubber feet to my sub enclosure to keep it from sliding around. This morning I installed my Scosche front speaker adapters. They had to be modded to fit the 6.75" Pioneer speakers. Sealed both the adapter and speaker with foam tape. Next I wanna get some proper sound deadening behind the speakers and some FAST rings.

Replaced the Headlight Driver Module Relay. Now the low beams work!

Tried to replace the front calipers, rotors, and pads, but I got the wrong caliper brackets, so the truck is up on a jack stand partially disassembled. I don't really need the headlights now.

Replaced oil pressure switch, discovered two bolts on the bell-housing started walking out, and attempted to clean up the oil mess amassed over the years under the truck. Used a whole can of engine degreaser and it barely made a dent...

Swore at it a bit. Got the P1484 code...looks like the fan clutch harness is the culprit with that code. If it's toast, even though the clutch isn't that old I'll replace the whole thing with a Hayden 3200 and when I get the PCM done by Lime in August, I'll get the code it'll throw for that removed.

Fixed the exhaust leak and topped off the power steering fluid. So much better to have all the exhaust go through the muffler

New parts are all installed, just need the sway bar in and it’ll be all done.

Momentous occasion: After nearly two years of being garaged die to various "medium-large" repairs, the Saab is on the road and has passed inspection:celebrate:

Now to get new tags which isnt easy in Houston since the all of the state tax offices close to me were closed down after the Harvey floods. There's a tiny office in Tomball where you have to wait outside in the swelting heat to get tags renewed. I'm going to bring a lawn chair, umbrella and a gallon of ice tea when I go.

Had an oil change done on the Saab at the dealer. (Yes, DEALER!). It's a good deal, use ACDelco filters and check stuff, all for less than $60, taxes in, which is cheaper than the lube place. Told me that an axle boot clamp is gone. 20 minutes, in/out, kept myself clean and waiting in a nice waiting room.

Got the "it's a Saab?" look. Told him "think TrailBlazer". "Ah, OK."

Finding that I'm getting tired of doing oil changes so I'm likely to keep doing this, especially with the fleet I have.

Replaced the lift gate plastic door panel. I've beat the hell out of it over the years and wifey has not been happy about it till today. 20180606_200551.jpg"Happy wife happy life"...It doesn't look to bad in the pic but up close there's alot going on.
I'll probably scuff up the old one and have my brother throw some bullet liner on it.

Paid the tire guy at work under the table to rotate and balance the tires on the Silverado. Both of which I can do, neither of which I felt like doing lol. Don't really like other people working on my vehicles but I've been working with him for three years and he's always done me right.

Due to heavy rain yesterday leaving work, the driver's side door got soaked. During a drive later that evening, noticed the DDM buttons became unresponsive, the lighting went out, and when I got home opening the door turned off the radio, but dome lights did not come on. Map lights couldn't be activated either. Fuses were good, so hoped it just needed to dry out. Then I realized I had the rear door open, and still no lights  Came out this morning, still no lights when any door opened, driver door lock didn't respond to the key bob either.

If you don't already know there is a recall/bulletin on some Trailblazer/Envoy Driver Door Modules for water intrusion. Any dealer can use your VIN and check it out.

All of us here should know about that one. The thing that should be a recall/bulletin is the wires in the rear tailgate I have done a few repairs on 2 different gm360's and I'm sure I'll be doing the same to mine sooner then later.

Yep, I'm aware, thanks for looking out though. Normal function returned a couple hours later after things dried out.

and yes those are electric cut off dumps welded in.
My older bro should be back at his shop tomorrow from a long vaca out in Florida he took. I'll give him a call later on and see when we can get this done.

Wifey told me last night that the cel came on checked it this morning and got that damn p0495 code again. It''s been a few years that I replaced the canister and other unit by the oil pan. I do remember switching them with Dorman parts so that might just be the issue to begin with.20180608_185552.jpg
Also noticed the amber side of the @TXBlazer mirror mode went out on the passenger side.:sadcry: I really like this mod so I hope I get a discount for being a returning customer. LOL
