Hey @gmcman , guess who'll be joining you down that rabbit hole?

I have to hand it to FedEx, ordered on Sunday night with 2 day shipping, shipped on Monday and in my huge hot hands today. Their automated phone notification is utterly useless as it said it would arrive tomorrow.

@Mooseman Nice!

Few words of advice....When using your laptop to write a tune to the PCM, be sure to use wall power with a full battery as backup.

Never use "Save" to save a file, use "Save as". This will give you that extra step to be sure that you don't accidentally write over your stock tune.

Save your stock tune where you can access it for comparison, then save it to another drive, and then save it to an external drive.

You will need a wideband gauge, the AEM X-series is somewhat the defacto.

If you have a P10 it's really gonna make you want a P12 lol.

Half the parts for my front end rebuild.. Still needing the control arms.
The rest of my parts came in Yesterday. Going to have a busy.. busy, weekend

I just realized I spent as much in parts for the Envoy, as I did on my Tooth Extraction. Car parts, and human parts... who knew they were that expensive!

Not in the mail, but it did get delivered. My sister dropped off a monitor and wireless keyboard that she's not using. Her new work from home job gave her a bunch of new stuff, so it's my turn for some hand-me-downs. Monitor measures 29" on the diagonal, sure beats the 21" and 19" that I'm using. Going to look up some mounting options, and docking stations, so I can use all 3 together.

Yet another set of replacement headlamp housings for the Sierra (OEM style, not projectors, etc.)

Truck came with a set of projectors, but the mount was broken on the P/S side, and the thing was misaligned as a result. I still have them, too, if anyone wants them. (PM me).

Next, I purchased an OEM-style set from Amazon about a year ago, but broke one of the mounts, which doubles to house the alignment screws, and couldn't get epoxy to hold the thin edge that broke back together. Found out later that the mounts on these were thinner / flimsier than OEM housings (had nothing to compare with, remember?) They did come with both high / low beam halogen bulbs, though, which was nice.

Finally broke down and got a 3rd set, this time from eBay. These have more robust mounts, like the OEM, and hopefully will hold up better. Cheapest I could find a new 'single' was about $32. A set was $52-ish, so I went for that, figuring I'll have a matched set, and a spare P/S housing.

So, yeah, I'm still rocking boring OEM-style 99-06 housings, but at least the D/S one won't be pointing downward any longer. :2thumbsup:

Got me some new floor liners for the Av. I've had both Weathertechs and Huskys and like the Huskys better. They cover better and keep their shape.

Husky liners are harder to find here but found Truck Part Superstore that was the cheapest online ($135cad) and are less than 2 hours away. Ordered Sunday night and here just now 😊

Yep. And I have an older set in the TB that I found at the PnP and even those are better but these new ones do look better. The black is way better than the grey.

Xmas for the Av. A new Android HU to replace the pathetic stock Nav unit. It came with the OBD adapter and coming later, a backup camera (not needed since I already have one stock) and a front camera to use as a dashcam.

Also in the pic, a PWM motor controller for a vent fan I ordered for the RV and 5 timed relays that I'll be using to simulate a button press in the Av to automatically cancel the "Service suspension system" message in the DIC (writeup forthcoming). The gas strut is a kit for my tilt sled trailer to hold it in the up position while loading the sled. It was an open package deal on Amazon for almost half the price.PXL_20201029_191409948_resized828643349781426793.jpg

Some oil filters, dash cam for the Av to go with it's Android HU and ACDelco air shocks. It's sagging ever so slightly and these will work really nice for that as well as when I'm towing. Good deal on them too from an Amazon warehouse deal. It's just like new except the box was opened.

Not for the Av for once, a vent fan for the RV. Price dropped enough for me to grab it from Amazon.

Man, with all this stuff I've been getting, I need a shipping and receiving dept.

And it continues. Order from RA came in. I think I'll do the Evap vent update tomorrow, plugs and wires. Hopefully that will take care of the shake and the fuelling problems.

Also came in was noise filters for the Android HU (if I can get it working again) and the boxes are a desk, filing cabinet and bookcase for Mrs. Moose's home office. At least her dept. is paying $500 of the $1000 cost.

Received my canister for the Av while I continue to try and fix fuelling issues. However now we know who makes them for ACDelco.

Gauge and sender to install in my plow truck.
FWIW I always use Marine gauges and senders since they are water, corrosion, vibration proof and there is a lot of good used stuff out there from boat salvage.
Gauge brands (US made): Livorsi, Medallion,Beede,Faria .
Senders: Livorsi, KUS, WEM

PC parts showed up today. Star of the show is that Ryzen 9 3950. 16 cores of processing power.  Got a board, water cooler and 16 GB of RAM to go with it. Reused everything else.

Im holding out for the 5xxx series to actually be available.. Should be an interesting build still.. I figure a 5600x and a Vega 64LC (I already own) should be a really good combo.

I was tempted to wait too, but the specs were close enough, that I figure for what I need it for, this upgrade would be more than enough and last me a good long while. But if the 5000 series was available, I would have gone with that one for sure.

Almost decided to try one of those M2 hard drives, but I JUST got a new SSD when the last one failed earlier this year, so that can wait.

Nice. I went through this dillema today, was looking for a 5600X and had a 5800X in my hand, long story I'll add later but the demand on the 5X is crazy but AMD is pushing the consoles right now so production is low.

Nice stash!

That was the most expensive rate, and best coverage. I could have picked MUCH cheaper plans, but coverage was severely lower. And since kids will be kids... I wasnt risking it.

I remember being in high school and paying $50 a month for my car insurance.

Today in the mail I did get some books for the kids Christmas presents. Trying to simplify a bit this year and make it about family and time, not presents as much.

You have more patience than me lol

Maybe only a little more....lol. It's hard to fight back the few 3XXX's in stock.

I'm at the mercy of supply right now, but it's definitely going to be either the 5600X or 5900X, preferably the 5900 but I have use for both. The 5900X will carry this rig for awhile, I built my 4790K rig it will be replacing to last for at least 3-4 years and it's still going strong....but can't wait to get this one built.

Had a lucky wafer with the 4790K, it ran Prime for 24 hours @ 4.9 Ghz with Hyperthreading enabled on air, ran an average of 70-73 deg C. I'm by no means a hardcore overclocker or benchmarker, I just wanted to see how far I could push it.

Amazon delivered what will hopefully be the last creeper I ever have to buy...

1607748722628.png

- 400lb capacity (I'm 150 light of that, but have broken two HF plastic creepers by putting too much weight on them in one spot - aka: 'stress fatigue').
- Ultra low profile
- Steel frame construction
- Nice welds on the wheel hangers, and 17mm Nylock nuts securing the rubber casters, which fit into matching square cutouts on the hangers = providing reinforcement ('some assembly required')
- Got it $15 cheaper than list, from Amazon's return whse (nothing wrong with it, either)
- And... the one that was sent didn't have all the garish logos - only one, on the headrest. Solid black, otherwise. Not that I'd have minded too much, otherwise.
- The company sells spare parts, if I ever need them (although the only thing I see breaking might be a caster, and I can get those just about anywhere).
- Comfy padding (which I don't care if it breaks down / rips up, as long as the unit otherwise maintains integrity)

One drawback: No built in tool holders / trays, but I'll take care of that, soon.
Also a bit heavy (27lb), compared to the blow molded plastic ones, but no complaints on that, if it holds up. It's got wheels, after all...

Plus, HF raised the ('on sale') price on theirs by 35%, recently. I don't need a third one that will break like the previous two, in my choice of six new pretty colors..

Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0078F3NXG/?tag=gmtnation-20

Yes, it's $75 USD list (got mine for $60). Yes, it's made in China.
I looked at each one of Amazon's "top 100" creepers, and judged this one to be the best 'straight' HD creeper of the bunch.
('straight' = not a 'Z' creeper that folds into a seat, etc.)

Will need to evaluate this one over time, etc., for a 'true' rating, but for now... this is the best one I can recommend, from a price / performance standpoint.

Im still using a I7-2600K if it makes you feel any better. My video card thou.. Its a bit more modern, MSI Vega 64 16gHBM2 LC. Its a BEAST! I can definitely tell my PC is dyeing thou. It takes about 5-10 mins to boot, and yes I am on SD Hard Drives. Used to boot in 24 seconds. But something is not right in the world of this OLD PC.

Still waiting for the market to settle out on the Ryzen Chips. 5600X in my future.

Cooler and rear case fan. Stock case fan is weaker than the CPU cooler fans, no issues to date but this 120MM fan will be about 30% higher airflow.

Screenshot_20201230-154722_Gallery.jpg

Also wasn't a huge fan (no pun) of the original colors of their fans but that will be moved to another case.

Screenshot_20201230-154742_Gallery.jpg

Kinda bummed the memory and HD might get here Monday, but hopefully this will be ready to upgrade this weekend.
