Picked up a Scangauge II someone was selling on FB. Not a bad deal for $85. Have it on the TB for now and configured to show voltage, speed, coolant temp and tranny temp.

Also finished the headlights on the Caprice. Pass side one didn't turn out quite as good as driver side but still better than before. I did a little test with a small piece and it does make a difference in appearance. Forgot to get a final pic.

Would I do this again? I dunno. Maybe just a learning curve but I just found using a film difficult and time consuming. Will see how long it lasts too as a roll of 12" x 10' was $70.

Not much today on this cool and dreary day. Vacuumed the pool. It's finally starting to clear up. I guess the new sand in the filter did the trick. The plastic sheeting that I want to use as a solar cover, that was supposed to be delivered on Friday, is late. UPS Tracking says it's in Ottawa but not moving. It arrived in Ottawa on Friday and was delayed to Monday. Now it says it might be delivered sometime between June 2-6?!?

Just work as usual. We picked up several more gates the other day, a new mattress (long overdue) and just more yard work. We had a couple days of nasty wind that just ened yesterday. It was nasty at night and really hard to keep the truck on the road.

Had the kids out on the riding mower and they did most of the yard. Sprayed weeds and the off to work and crushed a solid workout. My back is still bugging me a bit in the mornings but F it, I'm down 10 pounds, packing muscle back on and ready to wreck things.

Now we have plans to pick up a used tiller this week to finish the garden plot for next year and till up what's left after we finished removing that massive old wood pile. I cant believe how busy we are at the acreage and getting piles of stuff done.

Feeling a little dumb. Turned on the window a/c unit in my office at work and let it run for a few hours. Still 74 inside. Figured my cheap window unit was junk so I went and bought another one. Put it in, let it run, still warm inside. Getting a little angry, took it back and exchanged it. SAME THING. By this time it is time to go home. I left it on all night and still warm.

I started looking at other brands getting more and more angry at my "bad luck". Get up to go out and glance at the thermostat for the baseboard heater and it is set to 70 degrees. That fixed my a/c problem. Now, to figure out which one of my kids turned the heat on when they came by to visit the other day...

Thinking about how to get my AC compressor to stop spinning so I can take a shim out. Might have to buy a long shank wrench for one of the other bolts to hold it in place. (Before you comment, the magnet is engaged and holding another pulley doesn't help.)

I've been able to use a pry bar on two of those flat rivets on the front of the clutch. Not the wide flat part at the end of the bar but the square shaft of it. That bolt is not that tight usually unless it's rusted to hell.

I have a small Milwaukee impact driver. It usually has enough to break the bolt free without holding the compressor from turning.

It must be tiny, unless you take the fan and shroud out. I can't get my 27" socket bar down there because the "elbow" is too big.

Thanks mate, I'll give that a shot. Mine seems to be holding on for dear life.

Went for a cruise over the border to Wainwright Alberta and picked up a basically new Husqvarna drt900 tiller for a decent penny. Runs like a top!

My wife got herself a bike to keep up with the kids, hoping it will be easier on her ankle, wrist and other various brokenness.

Tomorrow will include various yard cleanup projects, tilling the round pen and fencing.

Replaced the replacement blade drive belt on the tractor with an OEM one. Now the blade actually stops when you disengage the deck and the belt doesn't smoke. I'll keep the other belt as a backup.

Last night had some random drunk person outside yelling at nobody and knocking on our door and neighbor's door before getting picked up by someone (along with her case of beer she had next to the neighbor's mailbox). Weird. I made sure today cars were fine and nothing out of place as she was all over the place. Probably the most exciting thing to have happened in the neighborhood in the last decade from the sound of things, but still I think I'm going to try to get cameras up soon.

We had hail late this morning which reminded me I need to get the garage cleaned up to get the wife's car in there too.

Working on a sucky report.

Took a trip to Princess Auto. Got a pair of 6 ton locking jack stands since I can't (and shouldn't) use the four recalled HF ones I have. Also got a 550 lbs capacity stainless steel workbench, a stool and some rags.

Well not today.. But...

I bought a 1992 Olds Cutlass Supreme S from my Aunts Estate. I bought it cheap enough, I just want to make back what I put into it. I have no intentions of keeping the car, as my back cant take getting in and out of such a low car (5 blown discs). She has 103,911 actual miles on it presently.

This is what it looked like when I picked it up from the driveway last Friday, where it hasnt moved in 4-5 years.

20200517_163452.thumb.jpg.f372d3336f6565eae194c5f7a940403f.jpg 20200517_163441.thumb.jpg.4b0793f1a80313c5ce2fccd3160f263d.jpg 20200517_163428.thumb.jpg.a4d2379d5486b55f8c73d05b8a054f7d.jpg 20200517_163419.thumb.jpg.9b09fb0ec989ce695ddfa193ea912493.jpg 20200517_163404.thumb.jpg.53502e7f94b72b1b960999e26de914f7.jpg 20200517_163351.thumb.jpg.acde0249a2d14213de71b55cab475ee0.jpg

(Thats my son in that next to last pic)

I have since cleaned it up a lot, a full size trash can full of trash and other detritus.

I replaced the battery new (35)

Replaced the primary cooling fan motor new (30)

I ripped out the single din kenwood 4x15w radio. It sounded like ass, and looked worse. I dropped in my radio from storage that I thought someone would have bought, but no one did LOL. So it now has a Pioneer Premier DEH-66DH 1.5 din 4x45w on stock speakers, and sounds so much better. My plan was to put in one of the Pontiac 5 band tape decks I have, but one read LOC on the screen, and I dont have the patience to get it unlocked (suggestions?). And the other worked just fine, but the antenna plug was screwed up, and would not receive any radio stations. (free)

It had a 1/4 tank of 4-5 year old ethanol gas in it. I topped it off with straight no-ethanol gas. Engine idle smoothed out a lot, and she runs great.

Took the front tires/rims off, and dropped them off at my local tire dealer to get some new tires (81)

It still has a R12 AC system that is dead. So I need to get it converted over to R134a, will make a sale a lot easier. ($?)

Plans at the moment are to get the tires put back on when they get in. Tire dealer didnt carry any tires of this size, and they are barely made any more.

Already has new brake pads, brake calipers, front wheel bearings.I have not taken the back apart to see what it looks like. The parking brake is frozen. Not sure what I am going to be able to do there.

So far I am not into it for as much as I was planning. I was planning on a dead car realisticly. Good for only junk. But after a lot of cranking, she fired. Dead and fried battery on jumper cables did not help. And then as soon as I would touch the brake pedal, or headlights, it would just shut off and die. Made it a pain since I had to have the car out by a certain time because of the Denver Curfew since DA rioters and protesters cant do it peacefully.

Clear coat on the paint is almost non-existent and splotchy, with some 50 Denver Broncos stickers on it. Interior is near perfect. No tears in the seats, hardly any fading (surprisingly), power seat works great, digital dash works perfectly, ashtray has never been used, dashpad is near perfect (nearly because my cousin used thumbtacks to hold on a dash pad cover), Steering wheel is also near perfect (has had a broncos steering wheel cover on it for 25 years), power windows work perfect, spare tire and jack are present and never used. It had factory wheel locks, but those have all been removed, and replaced with standard wheel lugs.

I got to find out if any R12 is still in the system, and figure out what to do about that, and get it converted. Once thats done, I think she is going back on the market. With the miles and mechanical condition, I think I should be able to get 12-1500.

I also bought a 1994 Chevy Corsica with 83k miles. Much better physical shape, as it has also been sitting for 5 years. But it does have its problems. Same gas problems as above, but some non-ethanol gas in it to help dilute it down, and clean out the system. Needs a heater core, tires, and AC charged.

Know anyone that wants a cheapish good car with low miles, let me know!

I had an 89 Corsica that looked EXACTLY like that one with the 2.8 V6. My MIL had its sister but in grey. Both were from Gov't surplus auction with low miles. Wasn't a bad car. Was actually pretty peppy but that year didn't have an OD tranny. Later, my MIL crashed hers but then got a green 92, also at auction, that had passenger side swipe damage. I was able to take the fender and doors from the 89 to fix the 92. Sold the engine and tranny out of the parts car. Actually made money on the whole deal. That one however had the 4 banger. Cheaper on gas but never liked starting in the rain. She drove it until she lost her license and I wound up using it as a commuter for a couple of years. Ah memories!

This morning, I'll do the solar cover on the pool with the greenhouse plastic sheeting that finally came in yesterday. Just have to trim it to fit from 25x32 to 16x32. Then it will be mostly a "hunker in the house" day with the A/C cranked on full as it will be a giant sweat box outside.

I owned a 93 Corsica for better than a dozen years. Originally my wife's DD, then it got handed down to me as a DD. It had over 220k on it before I retired it due to a crumbling unibody. It still ran and drove great but if I had hit a raccoon it may have crumbled. That thing never cost me a dime beyond regular maintenance(had the intake done under warranty).

Other mower disappeared yesterday afternoon. Perfect. Also took a bumch of cardboard to recycling.

Today, hoping to install the water softener (finally) and maybe work on cleaning out the garage or who knows what.

Late last night, took advantage of the cooler weather with the rain, and crawled up in the attic again, this time a bag of cables in tow. Fed some HDMI, Cat5, optical audio, power outlet, and a nylon wire snake into the pass through hole behind the living room wall. So that's half done. The wire snake is for the surround sound speaker wires, since I'll need to extend the existing ones, about 20 feet each.

This morning a couple friends stopped by. One of them got a new laptop, and no longer needed an old hand-me-down 15" Sony Vaio. Hmm, wasn't there something being discussed on the forum lately that mentions the need for a spare laptop? :undecided: So we made an even trade, their old laptop for a spare laptop bag I had sitting around. After they left, heated up some leftovers for lunch and did some Googling.

Found out what the system recovery keyboard shortcut was, to wipe the system and do a factory reset. Fingers crossed the version of Windows 7 Home Premium that came with it, is 32 bit so I don't have to sit through a 2nd install process. :coffee:

Brought the Corsica into my garage to replace the heater core..

All I got to say about that is.. The engineer that designed that heater core is nothing more than the spawn of satan. What a sum-bi+(h that was. I got the point of the whole panel being apart except one lowly bolt. I could get my socket on it, but it just would not stay due to angles. I got it loose enough that I could drop the panel, and slid a sawz all, and cut the thing off. After working on that one bolt for 90 minutes, I had had enough!

Anyways, got the heater core installed, refilled the coolant system with regular coolant after draining out the water. Than took it to my shop and refilled the AC system with 2.25 lbs of R134a. Blows nice and cold, heater works good.

Than went and picked up my new Michelin Defender T+H tires that i got a hell of a deal on. Waiting until next weekend to get those installed.

Get some windshield wipers, and the Corsica will than be done until I can get the titles (stuck in probate court-Corona Virus)

@Blckshdw normally 64 bit is a good thing, go figure lol. Need a 32 bit installer or do you have one?

Today, work network is all busted and applications not functioning correctly, so what I planned on doing is a no go. I'm having to do other odds n ends that do not require my main application. That's fun...

Later today I'm going to mow grass, plant some stuff, and get the water softener fully configured. I have it plumbed, just in bypass mode. I had to do an improptu plumbing repair while doing the install as a shutoff valve snapped off when halfway turned. Cheap junk... anyway, new ball valve installed and minor flood cleaned up.

People at work are trying to make it harder for me to help them. Details on projects keep changing, making previous work irrelevant and unusable, so I have to go back and rework stuff. Some are asking for reports to get pulled multiple times, and then for me to show them the differences between them. This is definitely a Monday :Banghead:

I had my old Windows 7 upgrade pack buried in a bin, and that had both versions in it. Problem was, Sony doesn't have 32 bit versions of all the drivers needed for it to run properly. I re-read the start of the VXDiag thread, and it looks like you CAN use a 64 bit OS, as long as you follow a particular order of steps. So maybe I won't even need the extra laptop? :undecided:

Going to the bank this morning to finalize stuff from my mom's estate. They finally got their shit together and cut the cheque. Definitely won't be banking with them. They were slow as molasses, COVID notwithstanding, and I don't like their service model. Don't understand why my mother would bank with them in the first place.

After that, not sure as the weather will be rainy, hot and sweaty. Probably continue chasing the contractor for the garage pad.

Got more yard work done. Finally had a decent amount of rain so the pastures should really start growing. Back working in the one with the old house. Finally got a chance to remove the last of the wire fence. Now just a few things to seal the house up (demo it at a later time) and remove some more dead fall and then it is ready for horses.

Had the stump grinder guys here to remove the remains of my Ash tree abatement project. Their equipment was amazing, all robotic grinders on tracks. No more hanging on for dear life and getting coated in dust and splinters.
Two guys with hand held controllers in shorts and flip flops standing 20 feet from the action. Did 14 stumps in 2 hours. The standard type grinders could take 1-1/2 hrs. per stump.... :2thumbsup:

Went and bought a used Queen Bed. Not normally my thing for used beds. Its for my cabin in the woods, and the mice had fully infested on it, so it needed replacement. Not spending good money on something that is likely going to get destroyed. Found a bed for 30 bucks, and it came complete, frame, mattress, box spring, sheets, blankets. Wash it all, and taking it up there either this weekend or next. Going to be spending fathers day up there. Taking my pistols and rifles. I/They need a work out!
