Planning on installing the Android HU in the TB to replace the older one in there. It works but Bluetooth is flaky where it sometimes refuses to connect to my phone, also an Android, and is slow at times. The new one is Android 10 with 2MB ram and the ability to have two apps on screen at the same time. Will also get the steering wheel controls working. Never had any luck to get them working in the old TB and the Saab that came with them factory. I will basically hook up the two wires directly to the HU instead of using an interface. If successful, will do a short write-up on it.

Couple more trainings this morning, and getting people setup with the correct permissions so they can get things done. Slightly annoying when you show people where the help section is, with documentation, webinar recordings, and how to videos for anything they can think of, and their response is "Well, I don't know that I'll use this, I'll probably just come ask you..." :Banghead: :dunce: Hello? The whole point of me showing you, is so you DON"T do that for every little thing. :duh:

the ability to have two apps on screen at the same time.

I thought I would use this a lot when I got my Android HU, especially due to the huge screen. I think I used it twice, and it was severely disappointing. Mine is Android 8.0, so hopefully they improved that function in 10, but the apps had to be side by side, which messed up the screen proportions of the app. Stuff was cut off, or required scrolling, just wasn't worth it.

Biggest complaint was Torque couldn't change it's orientation. It was setup in landscape layout, which was fine, until you only had half the screen size. :hopeless:

Well, just got the Caprice home just over a 1/2 hour ago. ONLY took him 12 hours over 4 days and I'm $1300 poorer for it :frown:

But was it worth it? HELL YEAH! :satan: My wife is gonna hate it :satan::satan::satan::satan: She sounds like a true muscle car now!

Still have to do some stuff to it like reconnect the O2 sensors and dimple a tube that's touching the steering shaft but it's gonna rain tomorrow. Pics and video to follow...

Work.

Got a rough estimate on a new concrete driveway and extension. "Only" around $10-11k. Lol uhhhh no. The actual concrere materials delivery cost would only be a quarter of that, so if I knew what I was doing and had help it would be more tempting, aside from having to figure out how to rip out old asphalt and dispose of it.

Eh. Dreams.

Did a vid and put together some pics for ya'll just before it started raining.

Notice the birds are louder than the stock exhaust. With the new system, I scared them away!

It does have a "wife mode" where I can put a kind of plug in one of the two tips to quiet it down.

Or I could get a truck to simply deliver it and pour it when I spread etc. Would be like 1/4 the cost...

Our stove burned up its connection at the cord last night. Talked to Whirlpool and they're sending someone out on Wednesday. It is less than a year old. Yay.

Smoking an eye of round later for dinner and while that's going on, I'll reconnect the O2 sensors on the Caprice and do the wife-mode on the exhaust. Might also replace the u-joints on the TB as I have been getting a persistent squeaking.

First note, Moose, that Caprice sounds bloody awesome!!!

Second note, finished installing some gates today. Two 12', one 8' and two 4'. Went pretty well. We picked up a new cordless drill so turning the spade bit actually went well. All that's left is mounting a small block to support the swinging end when closed as it takes up some of the stress on the post. Then we will make some diagonal tension wires on the braces. 20200515_213243.jpg

Just curious and I'm not sure how level the ground is in that area where the gate swings open but wouldn't also useing a caster and wheel on the end of gate help with the tension.

I was thinking that too, but not sure how much of a pain that would be when there's snow on the ground.

Installed the little plastic pieces I received last week on the rear of the console and replaced the armrest pad.

Also took some pics of the shoddy work the exhaust shop did. Google review incoming.

Some ugly welds

The hanger on the left if cockeyed and I'm gonna have a hard time fixing it because he decided to weld the clamp with the hanger to the pipe.

Wow those welds are...... wont even go there out of my clear lack of political correctness.

Gents, we mulled over using some sort of castor but Blckshdw nailed it. Not that we would ever really need to access this pasture in the winter, snow was the set back. A foot of light powder may not be bad but if you get some concrete like drifts, its wont be fun.

Work. Dreamed of buying a 2013 Silverado crew cab to replace my 07 extended cab in a year or two. I think I can swing the $ assuming no major market bumps. Also dreamed of a shed, nicer driveway, other things... too many projects not enough $ lol.

Was thinking 13 because 2 gens old is a lot cheaper, my mods would almost all transfer over (and give me excuse to finish the retro I never finished). But if you have a 14 crew cab, 4x4, and a good price I could afford then maybe so. At least I'd know it would be rust free!

Actually came to $1300CAD. They are fugly. I do better welds using my old stick welder, albeit on regular steel. I wanted to basically make this into a quasi show car. Don't know how I'm gonna fix this crap.

We went to the cottage for the day now that the bridge Gestapo are gone. Just went up to check it out and get the water going however the pump wouldn't prime. BIL said that it could be the insert in the pump that froze and broke. Happens almost every year. First time I'm doing it but I am familiar with these kinds of pumps. Either we replace it with a better pump or we should prevent its damage with some plumbing anti-freeze. Also the fridge fan motor is making noise. Either needs a bit of oil or replacement. Will deal with it next trip up.

Can't you go submersible pump ? assuming the source is a well.

It's from a lake so using a shallow well pump. Have thought of going to a jet pump. I'll see what the BIL can do with it.

Today took a load of scrap metal to the recycler as well as some old tires, batteries and electronics. Noticed this while unloading. Guess an Ottawa Police vehicle got into a scrap of its own.

Was worth about $70 for my trouble. Wifey happy!

First day of the last week that work has started off slowly. Its been a mad house around here lately. We have been having to turn away loads, and we are running our drivers as hard as they want to be ran, using up every hour of work they are allowed. We were working before, but now we are just purely slammed.

Yeah, I just spent some money too on new custom floor mats for the Caprice. This afternoon, have to clean the carb on the lawn tractor and then replace some belt idler wheels on the mower deck. If any time left, will mow the lawn.

Weather is so pleasant now I've been jumping from task to task, like putting all the outdoor furniture in place...no more than two chairs required at any one spot, enjoyed a nice fire with the wife, dog stayed in his garage bed, doesn't like camp fires....

Unfortunately it was for 5 cubic yards of mulch and 1 cubic yard of top soil.

The riding mower is now running well and mowed the majority of the lawn yesterday. However, the Honda push mower wouldn't run without starting fluid. Cleaned its carb but Honda being Honda, it's more complicated than "normal" carbs and I missed a couple of important spots and now it just surges. Have to take the carb apart again but need more carb cleaner.

After that, now that the weather is getting nice here too (24c today and 27c tomorrow), gotta get the swamp (aka pool) going and cleaned out.

First post over here! I'm more likely to dive into the technical stuff than the social generally. And this post is no different. Spent several days researching through the web poring over leaked documents from chinese websites looking for some way to get sensor data out of modules like the TCCM. I think we don't see PIDs for these other modules because they do not support mode (now called service) 22. Anyway, to be brief....some measure of success last night!! I can now get the 4WD switch , and encoder return voltages!! Woo hoo!!

This morning: Work day free of meetings. Wow. Yes I can get some real work done! Let's do this!

This afternoon: Where has the day gone? I don't have half the stuff done I wanted to get done and I'm running out of steam. Need more coffee...
