Water pump 5.3?

A quick question, 4,2 v 5.3. Lots of info on water pump issues. Are they specific to te 4.2 or universal?

I think it's partly due to the fact there's a lot more 4.2s floating out there than 5.3s in the 360/70s. I'd say between the pump and the fan clutch, you'll see a lot more posts about that stupid clutch any day. A lot of people swap water pumps since they've already gotten most of the stuff torn out of the way from doing their fan clutch anyway.

Good point. I guess what I'm wondering is whether or not it's the same clutch and water pump on the 5.3.

I really doubt the water pump is the same as the 4.2 is an inline 6 and the 5.3 is a small block V8.

ETA: Looking at Rock Auto shows two very different style of water pumps.
