This was a surprise to me when I saw this. I've seen other brands have a parking pawl release handle under the dash but didn't know about GM with push button shifters not able to easily be put into neutral for getting towed.
It was cool watching this experienced tow truck operator come up with solutions to different headaches, like the soapy water and winching it backwards.
I still have a column shifter in my Sierra however I'll have to check to see if it will allow shifting out of P with the engine not running. Don't want a nasty surprise one day. Might have to pull the fuel pump fuse or something to fake a failed engine start.
