MARINES 0317 and 0323
Are you sure about that?

You posted this photo in another thread.
Jl4OO.jpg

You say you in the Corps from 2007 to 2010, merely 3 years.
Your supposed MOS was 0317 (scout sniper) and 0323 (recon).

ku2wV.png

So that is:
1 Bronze Star
1 Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal
1 Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal
1 Combat Action Ribbon
2 Good Conduct Medals (Good Conduct Medals can only be awarded once every 3 years.)
2 National Defense Medals (In order to have 2 National Defense Medals you would have also had to be in the military during the Gulf War.)
2 Afghanistan Campaign Medals (This one is possible but highly improbable since boot camp, sniper school, and recon school would have taken well over a year, only leaving 2 years for 2 tours to Afghan and 1 to Kuwait.)
2 Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medals (Not even possible to have a star...)
2 Global War on Terrorism Service Medals (Again, not even possible to have a star...)
2 Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon (Nope.)
1 Kuwait Liberation Medal

Sniper/recon yet sharpshooter, possible but not probable.

Not to mention you have too many chins to be recon or a sniper, and no Marine with would wear that filthy ass uniform.

Did you really think no one would notice this?

To everyone else, sorry if I'm out of line here but I won't tolerate stolen valor and no one else should either.

The only shame to those who haven't served is the shame they will bear if they claim to have. - someone important

I appreciate all of you guys and gals that really did serve our great nation. I know you don't always receive the recognition that you should.

As for the impostor (if that really is the case): shame on you. You are pretending to be someone/something you are not. There is no circumstance where that is ok. I hope you realize the despicableness of your actions.

Stolen valor......

Kuwait Liberation Medal- was awarded to members of the Military Coalition who served in support of Operation Desert Shield or Desert Storm between 2 August 1990 and 31 August 1993.

Afghanistan Campaign Medal- you can have a Medal with a star if you are there for two phases of the operation. I was in AFG once, but was awarded the AFG Campaign Medal with a service star as I was there for the end of Phase 3 and beginning of Phase 4. This was directed from RCT.

National Defense Service Medal is awarded to members of the Military Coalition who served from 9/11/01 to present. Last time the medal was authorized was for the Gulf War from 2 August 1990 to 30 November 1995.

Good Conduct Medal is awarded to service members who must have three consecutive years of honorable and faithful service.

Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (MarAdmin 129/04) 8. DEVICES: ONLY ONE AWARD OF THIS MEDAL MAY BE AUTHORIZED FOR ANY INDIVIDUAL, THEREFORE, NO DEVICES (SERVICE STARS) ARE AUTHORIZED.
A. ALTHOUGH QUALIFYING CIRCUMSTANCES WILL BE EXTREMELY RARE, BATTLE STARS MAY BE APPLICABLE FOR PERSONNEL WHO WERE ENGAGED IN ACTUAL COMBAT AGAINST THE ENEMY UNDER CIRCUMSTANCES INVOLVING GRAVE DANGER OF DEATH OR SERIOUS BODILY INJURY FROM ENEMY ACTION. ONLY A COMBATANT COMMANDER CAN INITIATE A REQUEST FOR A BATTLE STAR.

Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (MarAdmin 499/04) 10.

Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (MarAdmin 582/03) 5. THE CRITERIA FOR AWARDING THE SSDR TO MARINES AND SAILORS ASSIGNED TO MARINE CORPS COMMANDS OUTSIDE CONUS ARE AS FOLLOWS: A. COMPLETION OF A 12 MONTHS TOUR (CONSECUTIVE OR ACCUMULATED) AS A MEMBER OF A FMF COMMAND OUTSIDE CONUS. ONLY ONE AWARD MAY BE AUTHORIZED FOR ANY 12 MONTHS PERIOD. ONE ADDITIONAL SSDR WILL BE AWARDED UPON COMPLETION OF EACH ADDITIONAL 12 MONTHS PERIOD. THIS CRITERIA APPLIES TO MARINES/SAILORS SERVING ON 36 MONTHS TOURS AS A
MEMBER OF A FMF COMMAND OUTSIDE CONUS. B. DEPLOYMENTS ARE NOT A FACTOR AND DO NOT PROVIDE CREDIT FOR ADDITIONAL SSDR.

I have been in charge of Marines who will go home on leave and will wear their dress uniforms out on the town with their family and friends. The Marines will also put on their "Libo Stack" (I am sure you fellow Marines know what I am talking about) because they think no one back home will know what the ribbons are for and will not question it.

Before I got out, most places that sold medals/ribbons made you produce an official form printed out from MOL that showed what medals/ribbons you were awarded. Other places only required the form when buying medals higher than the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Since medals/ribbons can be purchased online now, service members have free reign on what medals to wear, which is sad. I am sure the Marine is not aware this is a punishable offense under the UCMJ, Article 92 (Failure to obey order or regulation).

I have a friend who has a few medals etc that he wishes he never earned. Because of one conversation that made me oh so thankful I was too disabled(dumbasses) for service, I will NEVER ask what a certain something is on a uniform if I do not know. Rather, I will seek the details out elsewhere.

All you in the service know what dues you paid. You do not need someone "questioning" what you had been exposed to or weighing the difficulties faced in service, if any, and being subjected to comparisons with this guy my cousins neighbors girlfriend's dog once dated. He went over there. Once.

God Bless all of you. Also want to add that Wounded Warriors is a great foundation. Give what you can.

This is an old topic, but since i just joined it is new to me. Does anyone else wonder why people who put forth the effort to pose as a military member doesn't put forth the due diligence to research what all the ribbons/medals on their chest mean and also cross check their dates of service? All this is easily accomplished using a search engine; it just doesnt make sense to me. This post has no other purpose than for me to vent because Stolen Valor pisses me off. envoyjoe, you still look young enough to actually join one of the services...ever think about actually putting forth the blood, sweat, and tears and becoming what you already think you are (yes, its rhetorical because i see he hasnt been active on this venue for a while)?

I am not a veteran so moderators if I don't belong here feel free to delete the message. I know I'm also promoting another group here.

It bothers me as well when I see the stolen valor. There is a shop here in Oakland where you can buy service ribbons and medals and it bothers the crap out of me they sell to everyone.

My Dad was a WWII medic and my Mom a volunteer with the USO. Going through his personal items 40-50 years after the war, I find that he was a silver star and purple heart recipient. I know the purple heart has been awarded to many of our service members.

While it's primarily for active duty folks, we could use some support at www.facebook.com/whosonboard, www.twitter.com/whosonboard1, or 1stclassupgrade.wordpress.com. Trying to get the airlines to upgrade service men and women to any unsold premium seating and hoping to work with the USO or hub airlines to get some cots available for traveling armed service personnel on layover. Feel free to stop by and share.
