Unconnected wires under Dash

I just noticed some wires under the driver's side dash that are unconnected and wrapped with electrical tape on the ends! The bundle has a white label around with identification legends printed on it. Going from memory, the legend says Aux and Batt and ground plus some others. A couple of large gauge wires and some medium ones. The wires emerge from the large harness bundle that comes back from the firewall grommet and the wire bundle is doubled back and taped to the same harness.
Anyone know what these are for? The label suggests they are factory but I don't like the look of the black electrical tape just wrapped around each end.

Those are the wires for the trailer electric brake controller.

Ah- ok that makes a lot of sense. It just looks cheap, with black tape twisted around them. Sort of like an after market idea.
Thanks MM.

Yep, no fancy proprietary plug or anything. Even the wiring diagram describes it as "blunt cut". Only real indication on that label is CHMSL, which is Center High Mount Stop Light. In other words, brake lights
