I'm a recent convert to the TB, after driving Blazers for about 20 years. I now have an '06 TrailBlazer LS.
I really like the overall look of the truck, but it seems like there's little interior room compared to my last Blazer. I need places to throw my phone, sunglasses and misc junk. So..is there an overhead console that can be added to this vehicle by someone with moderate mechanical skills, or a different center (between seats) console?

Other question involves the speakers. I replaced the front door speakers a few weeks ago and am about ready to do the back ones. I can't remember from when I pulled the door panels off but I think the fronts were 6 ohms and the rears were 4 ohms (?). How far can I vary and in which direction from the original ohm rating before I have problems?

I know the upper models had consoles in the ceiling, but I'm not sure how they are mounted.

Technically you want to match the current ohms ratings on the speakers, but standard 4 ohm should be fine. You just won't get quite as much power transfer. You probably don't have the Bose system in your LS so you're limited to the head unit output power anyway.

I'm running aftermarket rear speakers (my rear left was bad), stock fronts, with an aftermarket head unit. Stock speakers sound like mud lol, I really should upgrade those.

I tend to use my cupholders for random stuff. I'm single and rarely have passengers, so my front passenger seat tends to be a catch-all spot for various items  I got a small clip that goes on my sun visor for my sunglasses.

i usually keep a tote with my junk, which i can move from vehicle to vehicle. We also have a little garbage hamper which the Mrs. keeps around so she can throw the kids and mostly her garbage in.

as far as the speakers are concerned if u stay in the low RMS 4ohm speaker u should be ok and distortion free.

They actually make a center console for the TB that will house the CB, scanner and aux lights and a cup holder and an optional laptop mount for it
