Hey guys, I have a 2002 Trailblazer LS 4x4 and I cannot find a transmission dipstick anywhere. I can find them for the '03 and up models but not the '02. Are the 2003 and up dipsticks different lengths than an '02? I had my transmission cooler lines replaced at a shop and they noticed the dipstick doesn't lock back. Not a big deal as I could do the washer "fix" if nothing else. Only thing I can find for it is the tube. Any help is always appreciated!

I'm pretty certain that they are all the same for all years. Obviously 4.2 and 5.3/6.0 are different, but 4.2 dip stick should be the same through all years. they all had 3 piece case, and deep pan. I actually have one for a 4.2/4L60E on the shelf used. Pay for shipping and it's yours.

The only thing I can think of is possibly the diameter of the tube itself? You could measure it and see. I have the complete assembly and could also include a new tube seal if it is a different diameter. The hole in the transmission is always the same size.

GM 15188981 is what is on my 03 dipstick. Measures 32.75" from bottom of the loop to the base of the plastic handle/seal. Does your 02 dipstick have a GM part number on it?
FWIW, and for future search results, my 06 5.3 is GM 15791230. Both the 03 and 06 have deep pans. I do remember a dipstick stop bracket on one of the valvebody bolts for the 03... not there on the 06.
Edit: A quick search on ebay shows 02 (only) dipstick as GM 15069769 and one is available at a steep price. Tube itself for 02 is GM 15000220. If your 02 measures the same and, assuming here, the tube diameter is the same then the only differnece may be that the 02 had a black handle and 03 up had the red handle...

Sorry for late reply. Had family emergency over the weekend. I'll measure the tube and see what the diameter is. I might take you up on that offer. Really appreciate it. I figured there wouldn't be much difference.

I'll look for the part number. Mine has the black handle so that could be the only difference. It's almost as if chevy forgot that they built a TB in 2002 lol.
