Last time i towed my little camp trailer a little ng distance, my trans temp was hitting 110°C, is this considered hot?
Headwinds prevent the vehicle from going into over drive so the rpms sit at 2500-3000 while doing 100km/h.

It is definitely warm, but not dangerously so if it was just peak temp and not constant. Keep an eye on the fluid quality as it will break it down faster.

Do you have an aux cooler installed or just all factory? If you don't have an aux cooler I'd be installing one, particularly if you do this routinely. It can only help.

I do have an aux cooler, not hooked up to the factory one. Without the trailer the trans sits between 60 and 85°C

That's 230 f and pretty hot but, as said not dangerous. As a point of reference, at 275 f you have fried your trans seals.

How big is the aux cooler? Is there a reason the factory cooler isn't hooked up? It might need that little extra cooling it does provide.

Well did a 3 hr drive friday night and yester day afternoon with the trailer attached. Friday night, i kept the speed to 90km/h and the trans temp stayed around 80°C that's with a head wind. Whenni was at 100km/h the guage climbed to 110°C.
On the way home i had a tail wind, speed was between 90 and 100km/h, with a tail wind. Trans temp stayed between 65 and 80°C, depending on hills vs flat land.

As for the cooler, its a square one that takes up half of the engine rad behind the grill. (Engine temps stay normal)
The factory one wasn't cooling enough with a trailer. Was going to use both but this trip showed that in head winds i stay below 100km/h and i'm good.

For a point of reference I have an aux cooler and hooked in series with the rad cooler. I tow a 24' hardbody, 4500-5000lbs. Never got over 205F going up nasty hills or headwinds. It is the 5.3 tho.
