20161123_045759.jpg 20161123_040645.jpg Hi, newbie here. came from the dead trailvoy site.

I want to install a double din (non flip touchscreen) stereo that Walmart has in their audio section.

My 2007 Envoy has XM & On Star. Single cd. No bose system for sure cause it sounds plain. i want to keep all the factory audible chimes, sounds & warnings.

It had a sony aftermarket stereo when we bought the envoy. sounded really nice & loud (especially when i hooked up my 3ds playing streetfighter thru headphone jack) i eventually took it off because it interfered with On Star, door ajar/headlights on/key in ignition/passenger airbag sensor (on when theres no weight on seat) seatbelt reminder & no automatic radio shut off. Got tired of having dead battery & making sure things were turned off or working properly.

What adapter would i need for an n 07 envoy with XM & On Start. i want the factory chimes & reminders. can't believe how a stereo has that much needed integration to a car. I'd understand if it was a top/very high end car not for a 9yr old suv.

Been reading about radio codes? i have no idea how to read all these codes & what they mean. somewhere in this it's suppose to tell me the radio system options & others. i would like to k mm ow what each 1 means? so i wouldn't be asking all the time for help.

I kept the scosche stereo interface sold the sony stereo.

Thank you for any help, ideas & input.

Anthony

I hate linking to the OS, but here's the RPO decode sheet.

http://www.trailvoy.com/docs/vinrpo/2006_EV_RPO.pdf

Looks like you've got the bone stock radio...nothing special, 4 speakers.

If you don't have steering wheel controls, you can use a GMOS01. If you have steering wheel controls, use a PAC RP5-GM11.

I don't think you have a bose system just looking at the rpos. I don't see any that would be a trigger. As for the harness, I'm not sure if there is one that will retain xm.

I could edit my original post, but keeping with what littleblazer said, I don't think there's one that will retain the factory XM. I think the factory XM will only work with a factory radio...at least that's what I've been reading.

You may be able to get an aftermarket xm reciever with the new head unit and use the existing antenna with a harness adapter.

Yes!! In order to keep XM you will have to get another xm receiver to replace the factory one...

This is what you would need and you should still be able to connect to the factory antenna with a slight modification...

Ill take pics of the envoys oem stereo wires. i dont know what each wire is to. the big grey one & the small black one.

I bought this radio off a friend for $20.00 hes givibg me the back up camera later. The radio has no make/model or serial #. So info is not available for me to make connections. Don't know if it's DVD. without info i cant hook it up to envoy & i dont know what the envoy wires are to make correct connection without burning out something. i can fix engine stuff im a complete idiot when it comes to audio stereo car stuff. all it takes is a tiny oops & i can durn out somethi g important.

Ill take pics hoping that helps. The pics are from his car b4 he sold it to me. It comes with its wires, TV/nav antenna that's it.

I can tell you what some of those wires are for, which is pretty basic for the most part.

Parking: Negative input from parking brake switch. Just ground it so DVD plays all the time.
ACC: Switched 12v+
B+: 12v+ constant unswitched
Key 1 and 2: For steering wheel controls. Need interface to work.
P.Ant: Power antenna,12v+ switched to activate antenna
Illuminate: 12v+ from dash lights so when lights are turned on, it dims the display
Reverse: 12v+ from backup lights to activate backup camera
P.CNTR, CAN TX, CAN RX: ?

We don't have a CAN system in our vehicles, so those wires would not be used.

I would try looking up the model on Dual's website, they should have some type of wiring guide on their site. Most manufacturers do, at least. :twocents:

This is the interface I kept that was with the Sony single din stereo that I sold.

Would this Scosche interface be useful for most aftermarket stereos to use in the Envoy & would it keep the things that i want? We don't need the XM.

Thank you for your help & input.

Anthony

P.S. I'm from Corpus Christi Tx. it's cold & rainy down here

It should work but Scosche is not a reliable brand. Have heard of these screwing up the CanBus on occasion.

The grey plus is? the small black plug is? i think the grey plug is speakers, small black would be? Do i tap into the small black plug?

How would I hook up the scosche interface with unknown Double bin stereo wires.

There's an orange cut wire coming from the Scosche. Do i hook orange wire from Scoche to unknow DD orange "illuminate" wire?

Sorry if it seems i asking alot. I don't want to ruin or burn up the family car. can't afford a professional especially if it will take 30minutes to do. car audii is a confusing thing for me. i can get it done just want to do it right & destroy simething.

Hope the pics help.
