Figured I'll bring this thread back, with some randomness. After neighbors stopped with the fireworks last night, got ready for bed. Sat down, and thought the cord for my tower fan looked funny. On closer look, was a small snake hiding back there...

Judging from the color, and patterns, if I didn't know any better, I'd say this is the same snake that got into my house before. He was in the bathroom, same spot, just on the other side of that wall. He was much more active this time, so I don't think he had been inside in the AC for very long. After I got him caught, he was not happy and tried to hit me through the plastic a few times before getting tossed into the front yard. :hissyfit:

Never mind high beams. Low beams give sunburns nowadays.

Manatee Sheriff SWAT team gets surprise visit from manatee
1599840457169.png
Should the title read
"Neighborhood watch checking out the visitors?"

September 10, 2020

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — An up close reminder why Manatee County has its name -- the sheriff's office's SWAT team got a surprise visit from one of the county's namesake sea cows today.

In a tweet, the sheriff's office said the manatee was curious and wanted to see what the SWAT team was up to. They were conducting waterborne training when the unexpected visitor arrived.

"Our SWAT team was conducting waterborne training today when an unexpected visitor decided to stop by and see what they were doing!" The sheriff's office said. "Brings new meaning to #ManateeSheriff!"

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida manatees are classified as a threatened species under the federal Endangered Species Act.

"Florida manatees are considered one of the state’s keystone species whose behavior can alert researchers to the environmental and habitat changes that may otherwise go unnoticed in Florida’s waterways for extended periods of time," FWC says on its website.

Polk suspect's attempt at fleeing comes to a halt after pickup truck partially lands on cruiser

1602006531905.png
LAKE ALFRED, Fla. - While trying to flee, a suspect's truck ended up on top of a Polk County deputy's cruiser, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies said, over the weekend, Lake Alfred police notified the agency that a suspect fled from a residential burglary. The suspect was identified as 25-year-old Austin Westgate.
"As everyone was RSVPing to Austin's capture party, an LAPD officer reported that Austin was seen hopping into a gold-colored pickup truck," read a post on the Polk County Sheriff's Office Facebook account.
Deputies said the attempted a trafficking stop in the Lynchburg area. The truck briefly stopped to let a woman out of the truck, and then drove away.
They said his "fleeing shenanigans continued into the Inwood area," where he sideswiped a vehicle and drove into two mailboxes. There were no injuries
Auburndale police used stop-sticks, but Westgate swerved out of the way.

However, he drove into a steel-support cable causing the rear of the truck to fly up and land on the front of a sheriff's office cruiser.
"Austin's getaway truck was finished, but Austin was not. He got out and ran as a K9 team pursued," the sheriff's office post read." Suddenly, it struck Austin. Not that he was making things worse by fleeing from the popo. What struck him was two prongs from another deputy's Taser that stopped him like....well, like a pickup truck that ran into steel cables."

I like good endings

'Handsome dude': Florida K-9 dons uniform, tie for new ID badge
1603457437971.png
I'm unsure if he's smiling at us or licking his chops thinking "you look tasty".

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - K-9 Chico is getting lots of attention online after taking a new ID picture.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office posted a picture of his new badge photo on Thursday. The brave but cute K-9 wore his uniform and even a tie for the occasion.

The comments quickly filled up on the post by the Sheriff's Office, with many calling him a "handsome dude" and "so cute."
This isn't the first time K-9 Chico has shown off his adorable smile either.

For example, in May, the brave pup posed in a sombrero for Cinco De Mayo.

Then in August, he celebrated National Dog Day while donning a pilot's helmet.

K-9 Chico, stay safe and smiling out there!

I was looking at some new microwave options, and while reading some reviews, came across this pic. I guess this person also needs a new dryer, cuz they must be making popcorn to snack on while they wait for their clothes to dry.

KARMA STRIKES HARD!

  • Florida burglar climbing into home killed by falling window, sheriff says
    1608066608502.png
  • LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - A freak accident involving a falling window killed a burglar as he attempted to break into a home, investigators in southwest Florida say.

It happened Saturday during the attempted burglary of a home in Lehigh Acres, WBBH reported.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that the window killed Jonathan Hernandez when it slammed down on him as he was climbing through it.

The incident report says the window came down on the 32-year-old man’s neck, the station reported.

"While Hernandez was trying to work his way through the window, it unexpectedly closed on top of him, pinning him and keeping him suspended in air," Lt. Russell Park said.

  • As the A-Team used to say "I love it when a plan comes together" :woohoo:

My son sent me this today, I had actually forgotten that my now 12 year old granddaughter was into this sort of stuff at age 5.

It’s again that time of year when we reflect on Emma’s drawing at age 5 of “Santa and Repunzel”
