Most Folks Living well north of the Mason Dixon Line probably never think very much about Mosquito Borne Pathogens that seem to plague undeveloped and Third World Countries (whatever THAT means)... But living down here in Florida ... We DO... Especially in The Everglades, The Miami - Dade Regions and around Fort Lauderdale in the aftermath of Hurricanes and Heavy Rains... and the arrival of the Flying Vectors of West Nile Virus.

Regardless of the causes and controversies... Welcome to the World of the Effects of Global Warming allowing these "Predatory, Parasitic Insects" to move their Hunting Grounds northwards; well past the Mason Dixon Line within the next Decade.

Right now over in Great Britain and in fact, all across the European Continent... the plague of the Dreadful "Asian Tiger Mosquito" is occurring; a rare enemy indeed in that it WILL track down its victims in Broad Daylight and Bright Sunshine vs. the ordinary Vampire - Like "Feed @ Dawn & Dusk" behaviors of its tinier Brethren. When IT Bites You...YOU KNOW IT.

Anything from an Empty Beer Can left in the Back Yard to all those Old Tires piled up in local Salvage Yards can harbor everything from the diminutive Aedes Aegypti Bugs that carry Yellow Fever, to the Anopheles Mosquitos that carries the 'Plasmodium Falcuparum' Protozoan, more commonly known as "Malaria.

The awful Mosquito Borne Zika Virus causes Illnesses that directly threaten Pregnant Mothers in South Florida (and can occur via infected Fathers unwittingly transmitting this Virus through normal sexual relations) and thus, pass it on to their unborn children...with heartbreaking outcomes; all brought on by horrible Biting, Blood-Sucking Mosquitos.

We also face other Predatory Insects that carry the dreaded South American Disease known as Chagas coming from "Kissing Bugs" in South Florida feeding upon the sleeping and unsuspecting population and delivering this Illness.

When it comes to killing human beings and even other Animals... like Dirofilaria Immitis... "The Heartworm" found in our Canine and Feline Species.. the Mosquitos and other Tropical Insectivore Brethren of the World have been doing a "Best In Show" Job at this for well nigh on 250 Million Years.

So it behooves us all living in the Semi-Tropics to be watchful around the Spring and Summer periods and to attending towards turning over Empty Cans and keeping Lids Closed on Garbage Cans and Plastic Bins and ANYTHING else that can hold "Rain Water in Stillness".

This is because All Mosquitoes Lay their Eggs in Still, Fresh or Stagnant Pools of Water ... AND... Inside Anything that can hold Standing, Static Rain Water. And yet... therein lies its Achilles Heels because their entire Breeding Stock can be made to "Kick The Bucket" either by being located and destroyed in that manner ...or instead... Keep That Bucket at Hand...and invite them come inside there and Lay Their Eggs ...To Their Doom ...in a Large Bucket set out Right in Your Own Back Yard.

Check out THIS On-Topic Article from the site called "The Art of Manliness" Linked Below and if you want to obtain the "Mosquito-Dunk" Non-Toxic Tablets mentioned yourself... the Amazon Products Link below will show what can be inexpensively obtained:

Have you used this yourself?

I'm on the other side of (the world according to Americans) in Central Ca and we have the "Ankle Biters" now. These vicious little things are also on the prowl 24/7/365 and they stay low to the ground so you don't notice them and will bite you several times in a few seconds.

Add to that I am a Mosquito Magnet.

Recent research shows that people who are more attractive to mosquitoes have higher levels of carboxylic acids emitted from their skin. It remains unclear what causes this difference, but a person's unique and enduring skin microbiota is thought to play a major role.

And add to that I have a pretty strong alergic reaction to them. For me the itch is extremely strong and if I do scratch it, the area will swell up to an inch wide or more.

I finally found the Beurer BR60 Insect Sting and Bite Relief and it has been a godsend. It hurts, don't believe otherwise but, it is worth it because it works. The kids won't get near it. The sooner you can use it the better it works. If you catch it right away usually one use is all you need but it will stop older bites from itching too though those usually need more then one application.

Q: The dunk "Lasts for 30 days and treats 100 square feet of surface water". A 5G bucket has about 1 sq ft of water surface. Wouldn't a small slice of the dunk be enough?
(I just posted that question on Amazon, I'll paste it here if I get an official reply.)
