Steering upgrade 07 TB. Can an SS rack be installed?

Hi All,

I would like to tighten up the steering on a 07 TB. Has anyone ever installed a TBSS rack in an TB? Is this something that would work? Could it be done?

Steering Ratio
TrailBlazer: 20.3:1; TrailerBlazer EXT: 18.5:1 TrailBlazer SS: 16.00:1

Steering wheel turns, lock-to-lock
TrailBlazer: 3.82; TrailerBlazer EXT: 3.48 TrailBlazer SS: 3.00

Turning circle, curb-to-curb (ft / m):
TrailBlazer: 36.4 / 11; TrailBlazer EXT: 42.3 / 12.9


Not sure it would tighten up anything. Have you replaced your tie rods and such already?

I probably should have been more clear. It's not that anything is loose, I was looking to make it more nimble.

I know it is an SUV but I would like to put the HD Bilsteins all around and make it a little more exciting to toss around on the twisties! Seemed like a tighter ratio rack might get what I was looking for.

I cant see any reason it would not swap right in. All the other front end stuff will.

No one has done the swap? I am surprised. I swapped the gear box in my 95 Fleetwood with one from an Impala SS and made a huge difference. That and the HD Bilstiens!

The HD bilstiens are real common on here, but I have never heard anyone complain about the stock steering.

Some have asked about it but didn't hear back. The 9-7x also had a quicker ratio but not as quick ad the SS.

I went from a GMC to an SS steering wheel for the buttons and DLC, it didn't really make a difference in turn at all, but the wrapped leather looks a bit nicer then the denail wood grain look to me.

The steering ratio is in the rack n pinion. Steering wheel has nothing to do with it.
Also it is a DIC.
