I'm finally getting around to changing my exhaust. The stock exhaust was chopped off with less than 100 miles on it when the TB was new. A local exhaust shop made me a custom dual setup with a single in/dual out Flowmaster. That exhaust has served me well for 5+ years, but I wanted something different. The TB is currently in my garage with no exhaust on it. Hopefully tonight I will have time to finish installing the new system.

Video of exhaust when new:

Video I took on Tuesday:

Video last night in the garage: (I was waiting for the wife to come out and yell at me because it's WAY louder in person)

you should leave it as is, no mufflers.
are you just going w/ new mufflers and pipes, or are you adding their headers also ?

I agree!!

I was originally going to do headers also but I changed my mind. I might do it later down the road.

So far the installation of this system has been horrible. I've done several cat backs and this has been the worst by far. The directions are terrible and I talked to SW and they were nice enough to email me installed pictures but still the brackets aren't the same as the pictures. Ugh..

stainless doesnt seem to impress me much and the lack of fitment and directions isnt surprising. Let us know how it really works and what your money gets you.

It's on, kinda. The kit is for the SS so I wasn't sure how it would fit with my LT bumper and in fact my bumper hangs down a little too much. It might work with the LS bumper though.

I've got it installed to where it comes over the rear axle and points down. The last piece for each side isn't on. I'm going to take it to an exhaust shop and have them cut and bend the rear pipes to exit out the sides like my last exhaust did.

I agree that overall the fitment isn't the best. The pictures they sent me were of a truck they did in the shop so the hangers were welded onto the pipes and lined up better. This is especially true of the first hangar in front of the mufflers. Hopefully the exhaust shop can use their expertise to make everything fit perfectly.

I paid $899 shipped and other systems with a single exhaust aren't a whole lot cheaper. I did take it for a quick drive yesterday and inside it doesn't seem that much louder than the other system and at idle, it's about the same outside. However, from the outside when you rev it up, it sounds meaner than my other exhaust.

I have to run back up to MI this week for work, so it's just going to sit in the garage because I got a rental. It will probably be next weekend before I get it to a shop.

LOL!!! I was youtubing dual exhaust for my Envoy this morning, and I was looking at these videos.
Then I come over here and 'SEARCH', what do I find? The videos that I already looked at!
In fact, it was your truck that made me decide to not go with flowmasters...
That's too funny......

Please, please post up a clip of your new exhaust asap...
I couldn't find any SW on a 5.3l on youtube.

So, in a roundabout way, you're telling me my truck sounded shitty before?? :undecided::undecided:

Ok, here you go. I'm disappointed that the sound quality isn't better but it's noticeably louder outside when revving it. Once I get the tips finished and fix whatever that new rattle under there is, I will make a new video. I think it might be the spare tire heat shield or something because the spare is off in this video.

Thank-you!
It's not that your truck sounded bad before, but it's way better now!

Seriously, thanks for posting up the video.

I like the fact that the SW system is a true dual system with the x-pipe, but I wasn't sure about how it would sound.
I like it!
I think that I'm about 2-4 weeks from pulling the trigger. Your video just helped cement the decision.

This is what I'm thinking about getting.
Chevy Trailblazer SS 2006-09 Headers: True-Dual Catted
Chevy Trailblazer SS 2006-09 True Dual Exhaust for S/W Headers

Wow! I really like how your SW sounds. I can't get over it. I'm replaying your vid over and over and my wife comes out and asked me what I'm doing... I said nothing, just truck porn... :rotfl:

I'm off to the exhaust shop tomorrow to hopefully get everything finished the way I want it. I'm hoping they can get everything fitting perfectly and exit the tips where I want them. I haven't been to an exhaust shop in this town yet so I'm hoping they are as good as the place I used in Omaha. If all goes well, I'll try to take a new video tomorrow. I wish I could get better sound quality.

Well it's all fixed up. The battery died on my little camera that I make videos with so I will get one this afternoon when it's charged.

Overall it turned out good. Originally I wanted the tips to point down more at a 45 angle but the guy at the shop couldn't get the stainless to bend the way we wanted. He said it was the hardest stainless pipe he's ever worked with! So they exit at less of an angle but still look good.

This is how the old system was and what I was going for.

why the change in tips?
did you go back and have them redo it?

:confused::confused::confused:

I didn't have any tips or rear pipes in place. The exhaust shop just did them today.

Thanks, me too. I wish we could have bent these to drop at more of an angle.

LOL, it's been dirty many times. I just pressure wash it often!

I like it Spong, I think it sounds awesome.

What I dont like if how filthy your TB is :rotfl:

So now that you have the SW set up, what are you doing with the old set up??

Thanks! I pressure washed it after coming home from out of town last but haven't given it a good hand washing lately.

The old setup is sitting in my garage. I put an ad in the classifieds, it's free to anyone who wants to pick it up.

Oh I like it!
I'm very grateful that you provided installed pics and video.
It's a toss up between the straight back or down the sides like yours.
As my bumper doesn't have the correct knock outs, I suspect mine will be down the sides as well.

I don't the tips that are provided though. They are too short. I shouldn't be able to see the smaller diameter pipe from viewing at the sides or back.
I like'd your old tips, they were long enough to not break up the illusion of a larger pipe.
I think I'm gonna have to buy different tips for when I get my setup.

Congrats on your setup!

I agree the tips aren't the best looking. If they were coming straight out under the bumper as intended, you wouldn't see the pipe and the size difference. With the spare in place, it will cover some of the pipe plus the pics were taken at a much lower angle than how you would normally see it.

It's pretty quiet inside, maybe even quieter than the last sytem at cruising speed. When you accellerate though, it's louder.

I need to get something with a better mic and try to re-record it.
