Well making my trip from Colorado to Virginia my speedometer decided to stop working! Sometimes it'll just sit at zero while I'm going or sometimes it'll move a little, like earlier it said 30 when I was prob doing 60-65!

How do I fix this, is there a speed sensor I need to replace or something? Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe there are a number of stepper motors in the cluster. Sounds like the one for the spedo is bad. Someone else will probably have a better idea.

Good luck!

sorry for the blurry pic... hard to take a pic at 160... but at first i thought someone put a toyota gas pedal in my truck...

just got mine replaced thanks to another member... my 0 was between 90 -120mph.... new stepper motor fixed it. stepper motors are more likly then a speed sensor...

Yep, your speedo's stepper motor is going out. If you know how to solder, you can buy a set of 6 on Ebay for under $30. We usually recommend, if you're gonna do one, might as well do them all. There are also places that will replace the stepper motors for you, if you aren't comfortable doing the soldering yourself.

Those steppers(X25-168) are the old ones... here are the newer ones (X27-168)

Not trying to pick nits, but either the X25168 or the X27168 should work, and both are newer than the ones that usually fail,
which were the XC5168.

jbones...thanks....now I need eye bleach....

Cheers-

Chris
