Shifter Height mod?

So I was trolling around the OS and saw a discussion that got me wondering about this. On alot of newer vehicles, they seem to have gotten the idea that the shifter doesn't need to be a foot tall. I know some of the Range Rovers are short and the 2012 Charger is about an inch off the console. Has anyone tried shortening the metal rod inside and the plunger mechanism to make the button work? Seems like this would be kinda cool to see a much shorter shifter.

:undecided: Hmm, interesting idea indeed. I think you should volunteer to be the guinea pig for this mod! :raspberry:

lol, I suppose I'll have to pop the knob off soon and take a close look at how everything is in there and see what would be involved. My rule with the truck is I have to get spare parts to make any changes, that way if the boss says no, I have to be able to put it back the way it was

Haha, good rule, wish I had done that a few times.

Shortening the shifter would be a cool idea. Not sure if I'd particularly like it, I like being able to rest my arm on the center console and having my hand rest on the shifter, but I'd still love to see how it'd look.

Glad I'm not the only one that does this, I do it to be cool though :rotfl:

My thoughts exactly. Real men don't need two hands to drive (all the time). :wootwoot:

Regulator has pulled a spare truck apart and may have a real good idea if this is feasible.

I do the same but if it was an easy mod I'd do it, I'm always down for a shorter shifter mod
