Hey ya'll!

I'm a first time poster and a brand new proud owner of a 2009 TB LT! I've been browsing the forums and all the information has increased my excitement my purchase even more! Unfortunately, I have no prior knowledge of how my TB was treated except that it has 82k miles and was a government vehicle.

I'm not too savvy with cars, but I''m trying to learn as much as possible since this is my first vehicle that I actually really like, and I'd like to do as much maintenance myself as possible.

My question is, what should I be checking for to get the vehicle running as best as possible at 4 years old and 80k miles, and not having any previous maintenance records/info? I know I should check the fluids(oil, brake, coolant, tranny, steering), but what else do you recommend?

Thanks a lot!

Wow someone drove alot, 82000 miles in 3 years !!!! I would change the tranny fluid with that much driving. Just about time for plugs too if you want to get that out of the way . Coolant is 5 years or 150K I believe so you should be ok there. Does it idle ok? If not throttle body cleaning time.

If you filled out the vehicle profile we wouldn't have to ask the same old questions, but if it's 4WD, the transfer case fluid interval is a surprisingly short 50K miles. I'd do that one on general principles. Search for "Auto Trak II" fluid.

Thanks for the help ya'll! I filled out my profile, yea it's a 4.2i6 4x4. You are all spot on. I've watched some of MAY03LT's great videos, and don't have an owner's manual! Haha!

Well what you will really need mores is a service manual and they can be found here.

An owner's manual in PDF format can be found here.
Just click where it says "Download : 2002 - 2004 | 2005 - 2009" just below the first paragraph underneath the picture of the truck.

Since you have the 6-cylinder, MAY03LT's video will be spot on...again, always feel free to ask if you have any questions...
