I want to try and build this circuit for my front turn signals. i want to build it and bench test it and see how they hold up.

Thought i would share this diagram and the site i found with you guys. If anyone wants to go ahead and build these also, be my guest.

For the bottom turn indicator

You lost me at sequential

Anywho, good luck!

Great to see another electronics guy on here :wootwoot: and I look forward to seeing the results.

A couple of questions:
Why the two different circuit designs? They both basically sequence the LEDs--a few tweaks to either design would make them functionally identical.

How are you triggering these? If you're using the turn signal at the headlamp the entire flash sequence will have to occur in the "ON" portion of the signal.

IIRC correctly the side and bottom bulbs alternate flashes with the turn signal.

I found two different circuit designs and will try to build both and see which one will fit better in our application. (sequential in lights on and off)

The second circuit was basically made for stop and turn tail lights. The first for general applications (signs etc)

EDIT: I will also find a way to trigger just the rear off the factory flasher and have a constant for the fronts. (which shouldn't be so hard)

You know this caught my attention. But since I am putting down my soldering iron for a while, I will happily defer to you guys on this one.

So you're doing sequential all around?

There's a steady turn signal "signal" at the flasher module (from the multifunction switch in the steering column) under the dash. It would be pretty easy to run these two through the firewall.

The side signal is basically vertical...curious how is the sequence going to run on that?:undecided:

Lol no, the rears on our TBs are single bulb only and pain in the ass. Unless I get the old school LED lines tail lights and redo them with this style.

Thanks man. I can utilize this constant feed to keep them in rotation cycle.

I was thinking top to bottom. What do ya think? Other way?

And the bottom ones obviously inside to out. I have my old aftermarket headlights with the LED strip for the bottom turn signal. I can use them and install it in my current set up.

no quitting.

 By no means am I quitting... Just taking a break for a while. You guys are doing great, I will send my mod bug to come visit you guys and lend a hand. I told him, there are some guys planning some ultra cool stuff that would be great with LEDs, and he took off...

What about instead of sequencing within the side light have it flash like it's the last light in the sequence of the bottom marker?

One caveat to be aware of is that the hazards are a separate signal to the flasher unit than the turn signals (i.e. the hazard switch doesn't just signal for both turn signals). An extra connection and a couple of diodes should keep everything functional though.

And also adding Electrolytic capacitor to hold the charge. Just called around no one local has the ICs I want. Gonna look for them online tonight.

That's the sad state of things nowadays. I make an order to mouser.com at least once a month now because nobody stocks anything but the utmost basics (at 2000% markup). Projects take forever because I'm always waiting for parts...:sadcry:

I'm lucky at work. Small enough company that I can piggyback anything I need on the company's account and pay them back. Large enough that we have daily orders with Mouser and Digikey with overnight delivery. No waiting for essentially ANYTHING. And a Fry's nearby for the occasional same-day emergency.

You could use the power to the cornering lights.... (helpful?):lightbulb:

Only Envoys had those. (actually not sure about the other four marques, but Chevys didn't, I know.)

My Rainier has two turn signals fore of the B-pillar, per side: the mirror, the front headlight assembly. There's also a lamp in the bumper right at the corner next to the amber reflector that illuminates to a steady/solid ON while the turn signal on that side has been activated. It provides a small bit of extra light during turns.

You can see them here:
