Need help to either repair or replace my rear quarter windows are available on my 03 envoy xl. Somehow my window mount is broken at the front of the window or nearly broken. I have duct tape holding it at the moment. How do these windows attach at the front? (these are motorized). One day I noticed a thud when I closed my door and the motor arm had broken and caused the window to flop. When I saw this I taped the window and found a motor arm and replaced it at the rear of the window, now it seems that the front of the window is loose not sure what’s going on there so I have duct tape holding it. So my question is how do these windows attach and can it be repaired or replaced? I haven’t been able to find replacements as the part is discontinued and from what I’ve seen the windows are near impossible to remove in one piece due to the “frame” on them. If this can’t be fixed to operate could it be glued in someway and act as a normal non movable window?…. Anybody have this issue?…

The Temporary-Permanent Solution involves doing two things:

(1) Clean all Glass and Adjacent surfaces of all vestiges of Duct Tape and Dirt using an appropriate Solvent (90% Alcohol) and then obtain and fastidiously apply and press on and into place... The ALL ALUMINUM FOIL HVAC TAPE so useful and also Virtually Indestructible in the face of Heat and Heavy Weather exposure FOR YEARS after being applied:

(2) Obtain several Large Drying Packets or Desiccant Dryer Containers and place them strategically around the floor boards of the inside of the SUV. Then make frequent inspections to Pour Out the Water collected and absorbed that will damage the interior and invite Molds and Mildew if it is not removed once the vehicle is essentially Made Air Tight after performing the Window Sealing Repair:

And barring finding a Permanent Mechanical Repair...THIS will do quite nicely... :>)

It's been a minute since I had my EXT. I never had to deal with those rear quarter windows but I remember that it looked like just a piece of metal that holds that glass at the front. I never dug into it so no idea how it's mounted.

I did find the instructions in the manual. Looks a little involved. And of course, these parts are discontinued so your only avenue for a replacement is used. Since the last LWB was made in 2006, it may be difficult to find one. Maybe you can fix your original glass.

Good luck.

I believe the glass and forward hinge point comes as an assembled unit. I can see that the glass is replaceable thru SafeLite for about 700 bucks. But it really doesnt indicate if that includes the forward hinge or not.

Glass part # appears to no longer be available from OEM.
Drivers OEM Part #15807629
Passenger OEM Part #15807628

The motors are still available new from various locations around the web
Passenger side OEM Part #15297366
