So in the last week I have put in about 70 hours of hard manual labor just to make sure I could put presents under the tree for the kids. Everything hurts, and I need a vacation. The kids will be happy though, and that's all that matters! I did even make enough to buy my wife and I matching tablets for Christmas. :wootwoot:

I really need to do a better job of planning ahead next year. Procrastination sucks!!!

The past week has had its UPS and down. Starting last Thursday I was ready to go to Missouri to spend Xmas with my son and the resistor pack went out in my tb and fried the connector could get the parts to fix it till 4 pm and I have a death wobble since I got new rims. So much for taking it on the trip. It was also loaded with my clothes and Xmas presents and a axle to drop off to Matt in Warsaw. So 20 minutes later I was on the way in a HHR. Which gets good mpg but the seats suck ass for anything over 30 minutes . Made it to Warsaw dropped off the axle and finished the trip at 11 pm to my boy excited to see me and made the back hurting well worth it. Been doing everything I can think of to make his Xmas the best it can be. The real joy of Xmas is making you children happy IMO. Will post pics of the boy with his presents on Xmas

Christmas kinda hosed this year. Everyone is depressed. I have or had 2 sets of in-laws as my wife parents are divorced and remarried. My father in law here in NY had his wife pass a few months back and my mother in law was just diagnosed with cancer. Liver cancer / ovarian cancer and an 8.5 inch tumor in her abdomen. The outlook isn't good. On top of all of that, they fired the other manager at work and now the rest of us are finding all the stuff he didn't do. My tree just went up yesterday, not all of the gifts showed up yet, I have 1 gift purchased for my wife and she deserves so much more. I just need a break.

Actually all is well. Said forget commercial Christmas and really went simple on presents. No stress or money issues. It is making these holidays far more enjoyable.

Damn, sorry to hear your stuck there for Christmas. It always hurts to be away from family during the holidays, especially with a new born baby at home. I have been in your shoes and understand completely. It will however make next year all that much more special!

Got home a little while ago, but first had to stop off at WallyWorld. It was a madhouse. So now i have 2 days off this week and i have no idea what i am going to do with myself. I was supposed to work tonight till 6pm, but the mgr kicked us all out at 5:30. I can live with that. Saw a nice TB at a buy here, pay here. Might stop wed ( reg day off ) and see how much they want for it.

Happy birthday Ike!

Sorry to hear some of you are down but great to hear that there are upsides to most things.

I am helping out and distributing warm clothes to homeless people over the next week. Some of my old pants can house a family of four:crackup:

But seriously, some of the things I think don't fit me any more seem to be a very welcome as a second layer or a fresh change to someone in need.

I got a helmet, gloves and boots for my bike from my girls. As soon as they heard that most people drop bikes when starting to ride they freaked out. lol! They we torn between the fact that I USED to be a tremendous athlete but now I'm just a geeky old father type (well kinda)

My Palm Springs Golf trip is looming at the end of February. More on that and the bike pics as Christmas winds down.

Merry Christmas!

First off, Merry Christmas to everybody! I hope it was a good day to all of you!

This next week will be a little hard on my family. My mother is going into the hospital on Wednesday for surgery to remove a brain tumor that is restricting fluid flow down her spine. She has been in quite a bit of pain for the past few months and the doctors just figured it out a few weeks ago. We estimate that she will be in the hospital for 4-5 days and at home recovering for a month or 2. On that note, the mod bug has seemed to calm down a little bit for now. Just some minor plans so I have time to help my mom as much as possible.

Also, for those of you that pray, will you please keep my mom and our family in your prayers? We all believe that prayer really helps!

Thanks!

Well I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas. My Lions are playoff bound. I have had a great week with my son. He got every thing he wanted and then some except for the pet snake lol. I got all that I needed in seeing the joy in his face. Now the long drive back to Michigan tomorrow.

What a day it was yesterday. Had a great time with Lisa and Jonny ( wife and kid ) and hanging out with the neighbors. That is, until my Mom decided she wants to visit us. OH MAN!!! You could feel the tension in the house. My mom and sister didn't even look in Lisa's direction ( that's a whole other story there ). They only stayed for a few mins and left because she wanted to hang out with my brother ( he can have them all ), but left quite and impression the rest of the night. Why? Because mu Mom gave me a blanket and a $25 card to Starbucks. Jonny also got a blanket and $25 cash. But for Lisa......

.....a box full for underware. Not even sexy ones. They were granny-panties.

SO how was YOUR Christmas.:no::no:

That's funny. We don't bother to wrap Ike's presents...he'd just eat the paper instead of the treat inside. :hahano:

I do resemble that remark! As my body deteriorates all I have left is my "rugedly handsome" good looks! The story behind that is the TV series Castle. Then I programmed our house phones that have "caller announce" to say, as it always does, "Call from" and this is the truth ........ "Rugedly Handsome". Of course it only works when I use my cell phone as it uses number recognition, then says the programmed tag.

Spike would never eat paper unless I soaked it in steak first. He is so fussy/spoiled. He will eat boneless skinless chicken breast as it is obviously a healthy menu choice :dielaugh:but he also likes roast beef/steak and of all things ...... shrimp. Dog food kibble is looked at like it is some kind of evil alien poison.

Definitely contemplating a lot. I've been working at Dish Network for 6 months in January and so far I like it. I'm good at what I do an my stats are awesome. We have a tier system 1 is on the lower and 5 is at the top and since I've started, I've been a tier 5 which isn't bad for a rookie and I'm getting "promoted" from a CSR I to a CSR II effective January 7th and comes with a $0.50 raise so I'm grateful for that. My boss and the people that I work with are pretty awesome as well so life is good. The "problem" is that 2 opens in different department opened up, on as a Quality Assurance Specialist (Grades Agents Calls and provides feedback) and the other is a Chat/ Advanced Tech Service Rep (Helps people troubleshoot online that use our website).

I really want to apply and see if I get any of these. Only thing that is holding me back is the fact that I really like working with all my co-workers so IF (I may be putting all my eggs in one basket) I were to get one of these positions, I'd have to change depts even though it would all be in the same building. I really would like to try something different and I think I would be good at either of these but the change would be the only bad side.

I don't see my self working here forever, at least until I'm done with school which us about another yr. but I would still like to change things up and try other stuff. I think my past supervisor experience would help me out (was made a sup at another call center at 18 and did a damn good job for 2 yrs until I got burned out) but it's always been kind of hard for me to make decisions like this even though I know that you have to take risks in life.

Kind of felt just like just throwing this out there and asking for advise. I have until 1/6/12 to turn in my apps. :undecided:

In my experience the quality assurance role can seem great at first....but becomes repetitive and old fast. Personally I would do the chat if you do decide to apply.

It doesn't hurt to apply for both...and maybe have your mind made up that way, if you are only successful at one....the interview practice doesn't hurt either. I'm usually all about the pay check...co workers come and go constantly in the csr world.

I would go for whatever position will pay you the most while you are finishing school, since it is a not a career, just a job.

call centers use and abuse their employees so go where the money is if that is what you want to do.

Interview process I think I have down pretty well. In my business communications calls, we spend like 2 months going through that process and going through a formal process and I did pretty well. The only good thing I can say I got my last job was supervisor experience which hopefully counts for something here. And yep, people do come and go unfortunately.

Broke the news of the recent divorce decision wifey and I made with my parents. Both took it very well and they still see her as their daughter-in-law regardless (she is the mother of their grandchildren....so there is that). We are both going about this in very mature and friendly way as possible. The logistics of it all are still being discusses and finalized, but so far so good in that department. Yeah, it still really sucks that this is happening as I don't want her to leave, but at the same time this is the best decision as all I have ever wanted was for her to be happy.....even if it is not with me. I am also looking at this from a positive point of view as I can now do a lot more things that I want to without her input.....like modding the hell out of a TB . Its still hard for me, but I'm sure I'll find another girl to be my companion soon enough.

Getting ready for my new job as a licensed officer on the supply vessels. I leave next week for 30 days on the ship. This is the best salary I have ever gotten since I graduated from the Maritime Academy 6 years ago, and it is literally one of the largest marine companies in the world. I should be able to still post via my smartphone as we will not be at sea the entire time, so I'll check in as often as I can.

Good to see some of the familiar names from the OS....even if they don't remember me. That is all for now, I'll update how the new job is going and how the divorce is going as well (if anyone cares to hear that is :frown:)
