2002 GM Envoy. 190K miles. Excellent condition. 3:42 differential. 4.2 Atlas. PMC trasmission cooler. Trailer is 2000 lbs, with 900 lbs of cargo capacity. So max weight is around 3000 lbs. I know I need to keep it in 3rd. It seems to like 60-65 mph in 3rd. Mostly level driving, occasional grades. Planning on going to Washington State Coastal area from S. California. What kind of gas mileage should I realistically expect? Thanks for any input.

On my enclosed Triton snowmobile trailer, which is taller and wider than my Envoy, loaded with 3 ATV's and gear, plus me and my family and dogs in the truck, I get the same fuel mileage was I do without it.

In a realistic world, I would expect 12-14

That 3.42 gear isn't going to help you but it will be able to pull it. I suppose it's a pop-up tent camper? If so, then you won't have a giant sail holding you back like a regular RV trailer or snowmobile trailer. My snowmobile trailer loaded with two sleds totals ~3000 lbs and it was terrible above 90-100 km/h. Mine unloaded does about 17 MPG. It drops to about 12 pulling that trailer. These motors are not torque monsters, which is probably why they never put a tow/haul mode in them and say to use 3rd gear.
