The truck was being a Dbag, but it sorta looks like she is hogging the left lane. Florida (and many other states) have a law called "Keep right except to pass," It was my FLDMV drivers handbook when I was learning to drive in FL. But that doesnt give the right for the F250 to be an asshat about it.

I was just talking to some people at work about that video. 2 wrongs don't make a right, but they do make good internet entertainment.

I would LOVE it if this law was enforced more often, although I'm not really sure how you could implement it. The woman who got ticketed in this video doesn't quite get why she got the ticket. It's not that she was driving below the speed limit, but that she was doing it in the left lane of the interstate during morning rush hour!

Not sure if the cop that busted her was in an unmarked vehicle or not, but most people move the hell over when 5-0 rolls up behind them!

I'd drive that!

Been discussing this on Facebook and one of the other forums I am on. While the guy driving like an asshole is ignorant, the woman being arrogant and rude is no better. She knowingly stayed in the left lane while this guy obviously wanted to pass. Not to mention her entire story is flawed. The road conditions were to dangerous to drive any faster yet she had no problem taking a video with her cell phone. She also stated that she was turning in a half mile, yet she said he was behind her in the left lane for 3 minutes before taking the 2 minute video. In 5 miles she could have easily merged, let him pass, and been on her way with no issues. There is also an apparent interview in which she admits to driving below the speed limit, and then speeding up when started passing her.

IMO, she provoked him purposely, and then wants to play sweet innocent victim. They are equally at fault, and both driving recklessly, just in different manners.

Who has the time to go "oh let me get this on video" at highway speeds? And on "instant karma," for those who are one of the 77% of Americans that claim to be Christian yet use a term that's distinctly Hindu/Buddhist (along with a few others), laughing at another's misfortune doesn't really bode well, either...

Of course the media eats it up. That's the latest trend, you know, shock and awe and media-fearmongering (my term for them trying to use a story of fear to get you eyes-locked on the tube and feed you those sweet sweet ads), and wants to make the little guy always the good guy even when the little guy is a complete tool. In the right lane, on the Interstate, speeds are generally allowed down to 40MPH. In many places the minimum speed is posted on the on ramp, so you know what is expected of you before you even touch the actual road itself.

Just like the Casey/Caylee Anthony case. Everyone's in an outrage over the ruling, and the media (especially stupid Nancy Grace) ate it up with the "little-guy" side and now you have pics on Facebook about legalization of a particular plant going "OH DA GUB'MINT LET HER WALK," what people like to forget is that trial had a jury, and a JURY OF HER PEERS let her walk on the big charges.

Friggin' media.... glad if I want to see a news item I can look it up on the Internet and find someone reporting in a non-biased fashion somewhere, a penny saved is a penny earned and I haven't had cable in years.

She should not have been videoing but her driving was completely fine. Guy was an ass. It was not an interstate so no need to get to right lane.

Turns out, that stuff happened right across town here :ugh:

Dunno if anyone has read any of the news station articles or saw the interview she did with the FOX affiliate here, but the speed limit on that road was 55. She admitted to doing 50, and then slowing down more. Although she says she was planning to make a left hand turn in about a half mile, she was taping the guy for almost 2 minutes. You have to think he had been tailgating her for a while before that, for her to even consider getting her phone out to video him. So that's at least a few miles she was blocking him.

FL Statute 316.081 (3) says the following

On a road, street, or highway having two or more lanes allowing movement in the same direction, a driver may not continue to operate a motor vehicle at any speed which is more than 10 miles per hour slower than the posted speed limit in the furthermost left-hand lane if the driver knows or reasonably should know that he or she is being overtaken in that lane from the rear by a motor vehicle traveling at a higher rate of speed. This subsection does not apply to drivers operating a vehicle that is overtaking another vehicle proceeding in the same direction, or is preparing for a left turn at an intersection.

Do we know if she got down to 45mph or below, no we don't. But you saw how long it took her to pass those other 2 vehicles, and she admitted to slowing down, which is an antagonistic move to an already aggressive driver. So while that dude was a total asshole, she doesn't get a pass to be a complete bitch from me.

Left lane passing only should not be limited to just the interstate. Some states have no rules about, others do. Any two lane road should be thought of the same way.

According to FL driver's handbook.

The driver of the car being passed must not increase speed until the pass is complete.
Help other drivers pass you safely. Move to the right side of your lane to give them more room and a better view of the road ahead.

I know that this is written more for people passing on a single lane road, but the same concept should be applied for passing on a two lane road.

Ways to Avoid Road Rage
• Keep a cool head
• Avoid eye contact
• Never make obscene gestures
• Do not use your vehicle to
intimidate others
• Get out of the left lane for other fast
moving vehicles
• If you witness something you think
is road rage, call police

All of the above apply in this situation, for both the male and the female driver. Neither of them kept a cool head, he kept being an ass while she kept provoking him.

He deserved to wreck...I would not have cared if she did too.

I get tailgated and I slam my brakes. I sure don't video it though

I may slow down some as long as there's nobody else behind them (I'm out to inconvenience just the aggressor, not everybody). Pretty common maneuvers, slow down in a no-passing zone and come up to speed limit in the passing zone. If they're pissed enough, they'll just pass me and you know what? Who cares, it was their choice, I'm not going to go calling the police on them for doing it as I was egging them to do so. If this behavior keeps up long enough, eventually I will slow way down in a passing zone and just let them get out from behind me. Surprisingly, for being nothing but hills and trees, there's tons of people needing to constantly go 10 over the speed limit around here like they've got something to do.

It's like an everyday thing, you're driving a windy-twisty road at 45MPH as is the speed limit and someone in a lifted K2500 decides they're in a NASCAR race and just HAS to drive 65-70 the whole way, then they can't figure out why they wreck when they hit a spot where there's a curve with a suggested speed of 30 and they're still doing 55 in their wannabe mud-bogger. I can hug the outer diameter of a turn marked for 35 at 55, and that's really pushing a stock TrailBlazer, which is to say nothing of a bromobile that's four feet off the ground, and I have a more-clear head doing such a maneuver, instead of stuffed up with rage and anger toward everyone else on the road who is slowing them down just by doing the speed limit.

I get people that seem to need to get 10 feet from my rear bumper while I am doing 75 in a 70. I make sure their brakes work by testing mine

I don't let folks riding my bumper worry me. If I'm going over the limit, then they don't need to be going any faster than me anyhow, they'll get there when I do . If I'm going under the limit, which is something I ONLY do on 4 lanes when I'm trying to save gas (or of course if conditions necessitate it), then they can go around cause I'm not gonna be hogging up the left.

The only time someone shoving me gets me irritated is when there's a car in front of me and I'm staying off his bumper as not to be tailgating, and the guy behind me thinks he can get the whole line moving faster somehow by staying mere feet off my bumper. THAT makes me angry. It has happened twice to me that I can remember very distinctly, many more that I don't. The first time it happened I was in a line of cars following a loaded log truck up a hill on a 2 lane road. The lady behind me I remember was in a maroon Trailblazer, and she was so close I could only see from about her wiper cowl up in my mirror. I simply waited a moment, then let off the fuel all at once, which caused an immediate slowdown since we were going up a steep hill. While watching to see if I needed to gas it in case she didn't get the message and didn't brake, I saw the front of her TB nosedive, HARD. I never saw her anywhere near my bumper for the next 10 miles or so she was behind me. :rotfl:

The last time was just a couple days ago. A lady in a red X-Terra was shoving me in a line of cars on the same two lane, and she decided to pull a Mario Andretti and pass even though there was NO WAY EVER that she was getting around the string, and she was going to have to blatantly cut me off to get back in line ahead of me. I adjusted her level of rage by waiting til she got out beside me and then keeping perfect pace with her, until she finally realized she was running out of straight road and she had to return to her place staring at the rear of the Envoy. I think she backed off simply because she didn't think a "soccer mom ride" could shut her out.

XTerra is more of a soccer mom ride. I only see women driving them. Same thing with H3, just women around here driving those (and there's a bunch). On the subject of the H3, I was just pondering on how the TB/Envoy got the Atlas engine the H3 needed, and the H3 got a transfer case that we desperately needed (Borg-Warner 2:1 or optional 4:1). As I understand it, their front axle design torqued their enthusiasts off as much as ours do us sometimes. One of the people on their forum went on about how "IFS on 4x4s is relatively new." Not really, Ford's been doing it for years with the TTB (Twin I-Beam) suspension. Ate tires over the slightest issues, but is probably at least twice as solid as the crap we get :frown:.

The 360/370 platform is more soccer mom than either this H3 or Xterra. The JKU are definitely the go to soccer mom SUV around here though.

How do you figure? Our 2.7:1 TC is stout and very well matched to the drivetrain and platform. We sure don't want w less gears w 2:1 and I have never once wanted a lower crawl the 4:1 offers. Have spent literally days in low range and wanted or needed nothing more from our TC. With service every 50k...they have proven to not break. Why do you think something else is "desperately needed"?

The assumption on SSOwners is that it's stolen. Makes sense, if the person decided to keep on doing doughnuts after almost ripping their bumper off, and hitting another vehicle in the process. I know if I was being that stupid, hitting something and doing some damage to my vehicle would snap me out of it QUICK!!

I would have definitely thought if it was a kid, he would have freaked out and been done.

The stolen idea makes sense. Was there a clear shot of the license plate someone could gleen any info from?

That turned out better than I thought. I thought he was going to eat it. I would have put more effort in the landing ramp than wearing pads though. Still wouldn't try it though :rotfl: Where were their girlfriends?

What's next for those two friggen guys?
