How many miles on the vehicle? What were you doing when it happened? Any maintenance done recently that may be related?

I was working on my air intake yesterday and forgot to put that sensor back that has two wires on it....drove 70+ miles to work and realised I forgot to put it back and it was hanging next to the exhaust manifold. So its safe to assume that sensor is bad ???? Does anyone have a part #? My gf truck broke down Thursday so I'm stuck driving her to work....-(

Are you talking about the one on top of the intake? IF so that is the MAP sensor.

I forgot to put it back in the rubber hole thing and it was just laying next to the exhaust....surprised it didn't melt ????
Did an eBay and autozone search and cat find anything that looks like this.

That is what you posted a photo of... And if it is running rich that could be the cause of it. Have you tried putting it back in and clearing the code?

Yea, cleared code and truck still runs rich and high idle. :-( becides the bad MPG and high idle can the vehicle get damaged if I drive it ? I ordered the part online from Los Angeles , I am in Ventura so it should be here hopefully by Tuesday.

I think you should be okay. I ran for a few days waiting for coil packs to come in. It ran like crap until I got things replaced.

Haha that's funny. I could just see it now putting along...chug chug chug. Alright. Probably going to just rent a jalopy till the part comes in...I think its time for new spark plugs and coils while I'm at it. Just hit 55k mi this week. Thanks for the help buddy.

Don't bother with the plugs if you are only at 55K. If they are still the stock plugs you should be fine to 100K.

Went to wallmart today, noticed the engine light went off and the truck is running fine now. Weird......is there a way I can reset the ecm without removing the battery terminal ??? Isn't there a fuse under the engine bay I can pop out for 5 min ?

Did you mean PCM? I know you can pull fuse #10 and fuse #28 for about 15 min to do a reset instead of unhooking the battery. I usually take this route after cleaning the throttle body.

Here is a list of fuses I found that BlckShdw posted a while back for the 4.2L I6.

I am sick of the LOUD intake sound when going up our canejo grade. Checked three times to make sure everything is in its place before I start the engine.
The airbox is hollowed out for my 9" AEM pro-dry filter.

I wouldn't bother replacing coils... Those don't need replaced unless they fail. I have original coils on mine at 181k.

Glad to hear. Too bad the rest of this was a result of it.

I may have some slight gain loss but I can tell you our grade is 9% incline and the TB would BOG down up the grade plus 120db± noise ! But I am happy with the much quieter intake. I def won't be going back to stock.

I'm curious after running the engine like this if it was hard on anything...like the plugs, fuel rail, fuel injectors etc etc
