Chillin' next to the new toy that showed up over the weekend to share the parking space. The TB hasn't been too jealous yet.

GMDUDE2003 - The truck next to yours. Is that a friends truck or did you happen to park next to another Envoy? :undecided: And How is the food at the Brew Kettle?:undecided:

Just happened to pull up front, and when I stepped out to use the phone had to snap the pic lol. The food is of top notch quality. Some of the best smoked wings I've ever had.

View attachment 20402Trial and error. I did the front and back first but sanded by hand and there were irregularities. Tried to smooth down the inside and take all that gold paint off because it was peeling and only screwed it up more so I just started laying spray painted layers of krylon black gloss. I got impatient and it wrinkled so I had to sand and do it again once. Once it was ok, it's still not perfect, I put some 3m auto tape on them and stuck them back on.

I pulled the hubcaps off and dunked them in acetone to peel the clear coat off. In retrospect this was way out of my league, and I should have done vinyl decals, but I had already committed. I used a dremel to strip the gold down to the metal and sanded everything. I got it smooth but took considerable shine out of it just around the emblem. Hours of polishing only got it to the point where it was acceptable not mirror around the bowtie. I just painted a layer of primer and 4 layers of krylon black gloss to match the front and back bowties. After that I did 2 coats of rustoleum crystal clear enamel. I would do it differently if I had to do over, but it turned out acceptable.

Thanks a lot! I didn't realize tapatalk made my pictures so low res... I need to re upload them so you can actually see how they look. I wish that I could black out the inside darker portion of the stock wheels leaving the protruding chrome section the way it is. I think that would be sick. Something like Bmartinezx3 wheels, but still leaving about half of the metal visual would be awesome. I think I'm gonna play with plasti dip the next time I do something like that. It would have saved me from doing all of the sanding and screw ups I did.

I would still prep the surface anyway. Just so that the coating has something real good to grab onto.
