I wonder how restupid it would look to plasti dip my stock rims?? They're horrible LOL I don't think blacking them out will make them look less ugly though :frown:

Yeah VoyMom if your talking road rash and salt pitting the plastidip will fill in some pretty decent scrapes. Tell hubby to get to the hardware store and if you don't like it peel it off!

Young, Your rims do look hot! I like the look of it on the truck too. I would plasti dip mine but they are so hideous looking. It's not the chips and scrapes it's the damn style GMC has on it, just flat out ugly as hell looking. But I need a temp fix until I can get some decent rims that I actually like lol I'm picky!

You should look onto getting 06Envoys denalli stock wheels once he finds the 20's he likes. All you'd have to do is black the gmc on the wheels to flow with the Blk theme of your truck. Oh and def diggin the wheels Young

I'd like to see someone do one of the other colors on the stock wheels. My wheels are getting really bad, large sections of clear coat are peeling off, but I don't want black

You can buy it at home depot, lowes, ace most hardware stores. And by road rash if you mean rubbing these things down a curb your not going to like the outcome but for everyday like rocks salt water blah blah blah they handle great they don't chip like a paint would they will stay that nice solid black. SS owners have seen 1year before noticable problems. Mine have been through 2 snows here without an issue still look like the day i painted them.

Sorry to take away for the wheels discussion, but would this product work just as well on bumpers, particularly the lower area as we seen some models have from from the factory:

That would make a fairly inexpensive mod. I've always preferred the black lower painted bumpers.

I think you'll definitely be in the minority there. I've never been a fan of any vehicle with Rubbermaid parts

I love the idea of plasti dip!! Stuff is great!! I personally would never do my stock rims because they look really bad (shape and style wise) so I won't bother myself with it.

is plasti dip only used on metal or can it be used on plastic/ fibreglass components too?

On the can of Plasti Dip it says that it works well on fiberglass.

and it will deff work for the lower black part of the bumpers.

Im thinking about spraying my back bumper step pads with it and see how they look.

back bumper sound like a great idea I hope you will post pictures, because I need to do something like that to my back bumper, its all scratched up from other vehicles hitting it, so it will be good to see plasti dip on, can't wait to see how it will look please keep me posted okay.
I also have a dumb question to ask, where in Britsh Columbia, Canada can I find this product???

If you have the same rims I do, no amount of plasti dip with take the fugly away lol. I think the only thing to fix our fugly would be a shotgun

But I'm tempted to try it anyways :shhh:

How is it peeling the tape off? Does it peel off clean? Or does it pull the rest of the plasti-dip off too?

I imagine you'd have to start untaping while it's still wet a bit to avoid peeling.

Correct, after the 4th coat start removing the tape at an angle away from where it's masked off. It didn't peel any away.
