Hey everyone,

I spent several hours today detailing my TB, and after everything it looks worse then when I started...This morning I washed the truck thoroughly and after drying it I noticed what (at the time) looked like white dots on my hood, a lot more then the normal little rock chips. So when I got home from work I decided to clay bar and wax the hood and rest of the truck with little results, so i took a closer look only to find what I thought was dirt with wax over it was actually hundreds of tiny cracks in my clear coat!!!! After some quick googling I learned that it was a condition known as "cracking" and it will only get worse from here...I don't have the money to get it repainted right now as I have to fix my splined disconnect first, and I head back to school the 19th...I should add that these cracks were definitely not here a month ago, and the last time i detailed my truck my hood was like a perfect glass mirror...at this point i don't know what to do except let the dirt pile up and cover the hideous blemishes :frown:

here are some pics:

It's hard to tell how deep they are, but someone may be able to polish or buff them out.

This may not make you feel any better (though that's certainly the intention), but look at the top of the rear bumper of any GM passenger car from the '90's. Until you do, you ain't SEEN paint problems...

I should also mention I've tried Meguiar's #80 Speed Glaze, Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, and Klasse All-In-One to remove them. None of them did.

Are you the original owner? Has the truck been repainted?

Most likely the only way to remove those is to wet sand them with very fine wet/dry sandpaper used wet, and then rubbed out with rubbing compound and a buffer.
