Got a p1860 code today..would having too much transmission fluid cause this..when I checked the level cold it was up to where the hot mark is..every thing I've seen online said I have to change that solenoid but given its purpose I was wondering if too much could be the culprit

Solution
I was gonna do the smoke test just know but b4 i did it i decided to plug in the scan tool to see if any codes other than p0445..the check engine light was still on..when i plugged in the scanner showed "MIL STATUS OFF"..when i looked back at the dash no check engine light..went thru the scanner no stored codes,no pending codes and all tests were complete..live data shows lont term ft @-5.5....i dont know what happened but I'll take it..i'll post an update if it comes back..now its on to the sunroof repair project for me

It points to a problem with the TCC solenoid circuit so I doubt very much it's anything with the fluid. Either the solenoid or the wiring is affected. Check the fuses.

Probably not.

wasn't idling when I checked the level..I've got 7 total codes all electric related..late last year truck kept going into limp mode...after researching it I saw one guy that had a condition that was similar to mines that he said caused it..broken sunroof..that's my next project..mine is stuck open about 3/8 inch so if I don't remember to put the car cover on, depending severity of rain there will be water running down the front pillar..I lifted up the driver front carpet and sure enuff half inch of water with all those wires right there drowning..soaked up all the water dried off the wires and no more limp mode..in the last 2 months while working on the truck I've either forgot to check forecast and didnt put cover on and it rained overnight or put cover on and wind blew it off so gonna check those wires..when it stops raining of course...but shouldn't this p1860 manifest itself somehow? I'm not seeing any symptoms other than the MIL..sound fine, shifts fine, runs fine..maybe just electrical short because of water?

P0604 is the most worrying and may be the cause of all of them. Basically says the PCM has failed but may also be caused by other issues.

Although I couldn't find the thread, there was at least another one where it was an actual failed PCM.

Dried off the wires under the driver side floor mat and all those codes disappeared. however I still have the p0445 large leak and now p410 secondary air..made this today gonna hook it up and see if I can find that leak..tested it and it made a lot of smoke...already replaced purge solenoid, vapor canister vent solenoid and gas cap with cap from dealer.so I'm guessing a hose somewhere..I got a power probe a few weeks ago so gonna check all the circuits as well..

A poor man's smoke machine? You should post a write up on how you made it.

I had a P0410 when my air pump check valve was leaking. That was also causing water to accumulate in the hoses and killed the air pump itself.

Glad the other codes cleared up, but you might need to check the grounds inside the cab and see if they've gotten corroded from the moisture.

Good Luck!

@christo829 for about three years I had to buy a new air pump every year to pass inspection because of p0410.. the air pump was always full of water..I don't know if the mechanic was just lazy or incompetent but I started doing my research and discovered what the check valve was..I replaced it myself..I couldn't believe how easy it was to change it..it's just sitting there right on top of the engine with clear access..I'm guessing he didn't know or he just liked my consistent 300.00 a year but that was at least 5 years ago and I haven't seen that code since..don't know why it's showing up now..I'm just gonna clear it and see if it comes back maybe p0410 was caused by one of those other codes that vanished..I'll check those grounds also thanx...(that shop closed down 3 years ago by the way)

The P0410 we recommend to delete the whole useless system and have the PCM tuned to turn it off. @limequat (lime-swap.com) can do this by mail for $99 as well as adding some other enhancements at the same time.

That's what @xavierny25 told me I should do I'll check with @limequat to see what all that entails..well went to test my Evap solenoid and the hose just slid off way too easy I'm talking no resistance at all, didn't have to pull a clip or twist it off or anything it slid right off that thing..took a closer look and that connector looks broke to to me..so that's my prime suspect right there..funny thing is if I didn't notice it that's where I was going to introduce the smoke to test the system..so if there are no other leaks present I obviously wouldn't have seen a leak at the introduction point and would of been scratching my head..lesson of the day if...if your gonna do a smoke test introduce the smoke from two different points just in case your first introduction point is the problem

Hmm...yeah, looks like there's a retainer clip missing from that. Hopefully that solves it once you get it tightened back up!

My SAIS pump would fill up with water as well. When the original died, I dumped nothing but rusty sludge out of it. When the second one had enough water in it to freeze and break, I figured something was up beyond the pump, but once I replaced the pumps, the codes went away, so it took the third pump (luckily second and third were still under warranty) for me to wake up and do some proper diagnostics.

It was fun to rip that entire system out...

Cheers-

Chris

They want crazy prices for this hose 105.00 the lowest I've seen if it was the right one..dealer wants 191.00..anyone know where I can just get the retainer clips..of course the clip on the other end broke when I went to take it off..very brittle..

Also anyone know what kind of pressure is built up in that system..I'm thinking I just get some plain vacuum hose and screw clamps..or cut the ends of the hose if long enough and use screw clamps

For the clips they can be found at autozone. Only the small and medium size large size will only be found at the dealer. This is from my experience with replacing the fuel pump 3 different times. Do yourself a favor and buy 2 packs.Screenshot_20200527-165914_Messages.jpg

Got these at advanced...didn't think they would fit cause it said fuel line but guess its the same cause they fit prefectly..freeze frame showing lean long term fuel trim when the code set

Bought a brand new gas cap from the dealership probably early 2018..which was a replacement for one that i bought somewhere online because of that tighten gas cap message..once i inspected the 2 gas caps they where clearly different even thought they both fit snugly..gonna smoke test it today and hope i see something

I had my own fun with the Evap readiness:

I know there's a procedure for making it go into I/M readiness. Found this one:

And this one:

The Evap can be one of the most difficult for GM vehicles to go into I/M Readiness. Even using the Tech 2 and the service bay test to do it can be fussy.

Do you need it to pass an E-Test or something? Most E-tests will allow one to not be ready to pass for just this reason. If it's just to be sure the evap is working, just look for codes after a couple of normal drive cycles.

20 minutes after my post yesterday i went on a quick errand b4 i attempted the smoke test and the check engine light returned..good old p0455 is back..ate some food and got lazy when i got back so didn't do the smoke test.hopefully get it done today..i am very familiar with the drive cycle i/m readiness situation..i drove with expired inspection for over a year because of incompletes..got one ticket while parked (very lucky and rare in NY)..then the truck sat for another 6 months in the driveway when the registration expired and couldnt get renewed due to inspection..so i couldnt tell you how many drive cycles i went thru..b4 i realized what was wrong

While reading the drive cycle list for the 100th time..i remembered my speedometer wasnt working..it hadn't worked in so long i got used to it..so even though i was physically acheiving the required speeds the truck never new it..pulled out the instrument cluster shipped it to some place i cant remember they fixed it..3 day turn around 100 bux i think..drove the damn thing for 30 mins and boom all good got it inspected registered same day..

Even if the speedo wasn't working, the PCM knew what speed you were going. In fact, you can see your speed using a scan tool capable of it even if your cluster is completely unplugged.

Sure hope you get this figured out.
