Ok so Im upgrading my wheels and tires after I install marks 3"body lift with the z71 tahoe springs and bds all around. After a lot of research I have decided on the moto metal 951's wrapped in goodyear duratracs. I do some moderate offroading when I can mostly back woods and dirt trails (just untill I get it paid off) but This will still be my dd for now. I dont want to regear just yet so Im sticking to a 32" or smaller diameter as I still am running the stock 3.42 and dont want to overheat the trans when towing my trailer up north. Now I have three questions:

1 Are there any benifits going from a 17" to an 18" clearance wise ie... upper bj considering these wheels are 12mm - 18mm offset?

2 which offset would be more benificial the 12mm or 18mm with 4.53 in of backspacing

3 Which one appearance wise would look better? They both will be around the same diameter 31.7 for the 17's and 32.1 for the 18's

fyi Im currently running the stock 16's with 265/75/16's

That right there is a 265/70R17 i like the look. i would not go with the 18's because i think that's to much rim not enough tire for me but that's my opinion. as for ball joints you need spacers and the 17" setup keeps them tires away from the ball joints.

Yeah I have marks 1.5" wheel adapters. just wondering how its gonna look and measure up with the back spacing and offset of the new wheel.

Have you considered a 16" rim? Usually guys with a lift will downsize the rim to get more tire in there.
personally, I think an 18" rim looks better on a lowered or stock height ride.

Buddy w a new 4runner just downsized his rims from 18 to 17 with 265/70s and it looks mean:thumbsup:

Heres mine with 265/70/17 Terra Grapplers with Marks 1.5" Wheel Spacers. There is plenty of clearance from the ball joints. Actually wish I would have gone a bit bigger with the tires but played it safe.

Yeah Ive read through most of the will fit threads. I guess what im trying to figure out is the right balance between functionality for both everyday use and hiting the trails without my truck looking like it outgrew its shoes. I am currently running marks suspension lift and z71's with 265/75/16's. Now im trying to picture those with the 3" body lift added and its just not working for me. I need something thats going to help me gain a lil more height and sidewall while still going with the looks of the truck. What I would truely like to run would be the 285/75/17's they provide a good solid stance and sidewall while completeing the look but I know that requires some triming and Ive read that you still get some rubbing on the frame on sharp turns (something I would like to avoid). :whiteflag: i give up lol
