The truck am buying (2006) has a 6 disc XM/Bose system.
Planning on adding the OEM Nav Unit touchscreen but don't know if I want to go Lux or Non-Lux.
My original question is has anybody added a OEM DVD/Monitor for Envoy's with Sunroof, if so do you have a write-up, Where does the unit bolt up to and did you wire to the Radio unit. What is involved in the install, I've read a couple of post but some say, they have 8 pin others say they have 12 pin, also are there existing wire hooked up to those pins.
My next question would be, Which factory Nav touchscreen unit would be best? Thinking about switching to the Lux Bose Amp. What advantages are there in that downgrade? I want to keep a clean factory look
Because I can always go with a complete Alpine Nav Hu and either Alpine dual headrest or flip down Monitors

How about the Saab 9-7x Nav unit?
Is that one any good?
What's the difference between GM Envoy/TrailBlazer and the Saab

Usually people go with aftermarket DVD systems and headrest monitors instead of the roof mount style. I think that's why you're not getting any responses. But hey, you can be the guinnea pig and blaze the trail for doing this mod.

I've got both the oem nav and oem in my 07 Rainier and my 07 SAAB 9-7. The SAAB unit is a better unit given it has two slots built in. One is for the nav disk and the other is for a CD. The 9-7 unit has a bit bigger face/not the screan but the bezel as the whole front of it hinges down to access the hidden nav disk slot. The 9-7 unit seems to react to the touch just a bit faster than the same year Rainier nav unit. The 9-7 nav unit/radio sounds just a bit better than the Rainier's. Generally speaking GM did a better job on the SAAB all around where the details are concerned. Stuff you would not think is any different actually is. The oem entertainment systems to my knowledge are the same but I haven't spent much time with either as I don't sit in the back seat.

Well most don't have either the nav or the dvd and fewer have the SAAB. Both the nav and the DVD were thousands of dollars together believe it or not and the SAAB with those two options was way overpriced as well. Both of those options are pretty mediocre compared to the current aftermarket ones with the newest technologies. For me they are great since I don't have the time to do any aftermarket mods.
