Hi everyone, Got up this morning and noticed the truck has no power steering at all. Checked the fluids which were full, no abnormal noise coming from the engine bay, steering comes back when the engine is revved up and goes away when it settles back at idle. Is the pump bad or is this an issue with the rack and pinion? I figured if the pump was bad it would be making some sort of noise which it isn't, I know on our old Envoy the first pump before it went sheered the shaft and the second one was screeching and eventually lost power as soon as it made noise. Unless the pumps used on the V8 are different from the I6?

Pumps should be the same, they might have different sized pulleys though. I know the EXT's have smaller pulleys but idk about the v8's.

I'm guessing by your symptoms that it is the pump. Must not be putting out good pressure at idle.

Weird that you've had so many pump issues, I think I've only seen one or two people that have had them go out.
