U did research and understand the situation. I'm just not sure which and how to remove the right actuator. My manual says it's the one further up but everyone Seems to be replacing the one closer. I changed modes and the one closer is the one ticking. My other question is how to get it out exactly. How many bolts are holding it in? I've already removed the one esdiest to get out. I realize itsca press fit but before I start applying brute force is there another bolt behind it? I'm trying to attach pic butvdsying invalid f

AFAIK, they should be at the vent's default. If not, just slip it on the shaft and turn it carefully to align the screw holes.

I have seen all manner of recalibration procedures on the net. One even said with certain RPOs the Tech 2 method is faulty!! Some say start the engine, some say do NOT start the engine. Most say leave the HVAC controls alone for at least a minute or more, but not clear on where they should be set during this time. Donee have a concensus here for this procedure?

I have given up. I just ordered the two actuators and are going to install them. I think when you disconnect battery or whatever it stops them out of range. Then when you do the cal method it can't do it's thing and sits the stops and that is what we are hearing. There's a YouTube vid on how to energize actuators and test. Mine responded but who knows where you should stop. I'll let ya know how it turns out.

Don't plug in the actuators with them not installed. It can destroy them as it runs through both extreme ends during the calibration. They have to be installed.

The consensus here for the calibration procedure is to pull the HVAC-B fuse for a minute, put it back in, turn the key to RUN and let it do its thing for a couple of minutes. Do not touch any controls or interrupt it during this time.

From all the research I've done that install seems most popular. As for pulling fuses to calibrate would I be better served to use the actuator cal . in the tech 2

If you have it, of course. You can also actuate each one and see if they are responding properly.

Yea its a complicated issue because they take the 5 volt dc to a count rate and each screen is very complicated. Doesn't seem as easy as hit a button listen for change. And there are permissions as well. Like granted or not. The program is very interesting

As per @Mooseman's Post #8 observation on the problems that can happen if the HVAC BDA (Blend Door Actuator) is plugged in prematurely and allowed to run externally... prior to installation... ACDelco has this Brief Video showing how to rectify that mistake if this action was taken:

Yep watched it. Thanks you guys for supporting this sight and sharing your knowledge. I am sure I am going to need help in the future. Great site. My other actuator should be here today.

Here are a couple pics from my Trailblazer actuators taken earlier this year. This shows some of the possible failures inside which results in the clicking we hear. I swapped some internal parts between some of them and replaced one actuator as well, being certain to properly index the single small gear that is the "counter" of the electronics. Somewhere I read a posting with internal images of these units where the details of indexing were explained, but I cannot remember where.

I just watched a newer youtube where someone did a similar operation but the internals were somewhat different, the indexing being built into the final drive gear instead of an auxiliary gear as in my pictures.

Note the missing tooth in one picture and the obvious cracked gear in the other.

on a side note you guys are big on search function. What's the appropriate time to search then ask for help ? I'm serious..

We try to make information as easy to find as possible, so it's not buried and a royal PIA to get to. In most of the sub forums, we have a handful of "stickied" or "pinned" threads that will always show up at the top, so they are the first ones you see when you enter an area. We also maintain FAQ threads, which are just lists of links to other threads with good information, how to's and what not. In this case, the FAQ referenced is in the same section you posted this thread in.

What you may want to do when you've got some free time, is just get acquainted with where things are. Eyeball the thread titles of the stickied threads in subsections you have any interest in. There's also an Article Submissions subsection in the News and Support forum, that lists a lot of step by step procedures and mods. That should make finding answers to questions faster and easier for you, which is what we all want in the end

By the way... as a Tie-In with what @Blckshdw described as "The Stickies" since you are in possession of your own "GYMKO" Tech 2 Kit... You can also benefit from perusing the Additional Tech 2 Resources for PDFs and Training and Instructional Videos for its practical use via Link below.
