Color me skeptical, but I think I'll stay with good old, traditional mechanical linkages for both steering & braking.

The next generation of full-size pickups from Detroit could trade mechanical linkages for software and electrons, according to a new analysis in Automotive News. Evidence from several major suppliers suggests that either the next Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra or Ford’s upcoming F-Series will adopt brake-by-wire and possibly steer-by-wire technology later this decade.

How about they make engines and transmissions that don't self destruct driving out of the dealer lot instead? People are already skeptical of the quality of the crap they are currently putting out and they want us to trust another new thing? Yeah, no thanks!

When the Systems Completely Collapse... It may come down to sites like THIS (downloaded, saved and off line... and run off of private servers) that people may have to migrate into to stop the Corporate Death Grip on the Agentic AI Driven ECUs-PCUs and provide an Open Source Code means of setting up ANY Basic Car-SUV-Truck Computer Managed System on a "CAN-DO BOX" that does NOT have to "Phone Home and Keep Your Credit Card Handy":
