I have had my envoy for a couple years, 2004 black SLT, and recently have been interested in modifying it, or rather making it look better
What i want most right now is a grille guard, and i definitely do not have the money to buy a brand new one, so i am searching craigslist and ebay daily. the problem is that on craigslist there is a lot of misc grille guards, people that dont know what they fit. My Question to all of you is: What are the dimensions of a grille guard for a 2004 (really 02-09) Envoy SLT??? How far apart should the brackets be, and the general L/W/H? after much frustration while trying to find this info ANYWHERE online, i have decided that this may be the only place to get an answer. It seems logical to me that any company selling a grille guard, or any other thing that is not "one size fits all", would provide dimensions, but thats just me...
The mods am looking into right now are cheap ones, since i just spent $1000 on brand new tires and wheels/rims (I get them put on tmr...hopefully! depends on UPS really) Also, i am a graduate student, pharmacy (worst year and a half of school so far in the history of my education), and this comes with little/no money :sadcry: mommy and daddy dont pay for my stuff haha. recent mods i have made include new license plate frame, black looks much better than my old chrome one, and new headlights. i opted not to do the whole conversion kit thing, i just dont have time to mess with all that and the problems that can go with it so i bought some xtravisions that i have yet to put in. before i install em i wanna take a pic in the dark of my current ones and compare the before/after.

If anyone could answer my question i would be eternally grateful, and if there are some other cheap mods i am missing let me know!

Thanks all! Excited to be here, hoping it will work out better than trailvoy...

Hey, welcome to the site. I can not provide the spacing dimensions, sorry; however, here is a picture of the factory guard (really doesn't protect the grill). The part number is 12498672. GM Parts Direct: 12498672 - GUARD

Brush Guard = Grill Guard = Grille Guard = Crash bar = ...i have heard so many names for these lol. But yes, i want a brush guard that covers the headlights as well
As for all that other stuff u said, i have no idea what your talking about, except for maybe tint tails, and i plan on getting new tail lights anyway, then tinting

Are you getting new OEM tail lights?
Tails from the Isuzu Ascender will fit, but need to be rewired. The only others that I know of are the Altezza Taillights.

Here's a set of Altezza:

But, I prefer Ascender tails (a set can be hard to find):

I was looking at the altezza tail lights on ebay last night. i like them i think, but im unsure because they are a little bit odd. Mostly im confused about the mesh circle things on the side of the "3D".

IMO the best tails for a voy are the stocks with red nite shades

VHT Nite-Shades™ Red

And a thread with pics on a black voy

http://gmtnation.com/f33/finally-painted-my-tails-531/

If you want them darker you could spray them with the smoke nite shades after the red. Make sure to clear coat them also, sometimes nite shades will fade without clear.

I like your tail lights, but they look to much like stock for my taste. if i get new ones i want them to stand out a little

I know for sure the Ascenders are hard to find here, I'v looked. Be nice to have the reverse lights in the tail lights, then for a mod you could pull out the original reverse lights and add dual exhaust with a chrome tip coming outta each of the reverse light holes.

Thanks, but they're not mine, I have a Trailblazer. You can get all the supplies to red out or black out your sock tails the right way for about $20.

Here's my tails

And when I had tinted stock tails (you can also tint the 3rd brake light like I did while you're tinting the tails)

You can see Voymom's tinted tails in this pic. They could be made a LOT glossier (like glass) with 8-10 coats of clear, wet sand with 2000 grit buffed with polishing compound and waxed.

Here's a set of voy tails that have been tinted and polished

Mine are smoked and I like them, keeps away police also since the brake lights are seen way easier than someone darker

this is 2 coats but my 2 coats can be different then yours or someone else so ima say its a "medium" tint like 30% window tint almost, can see red easily up close but far away look black

Fixed!! :raspberry:

But on a serious note, yes if you wet sand and use clear coat on them the lights will turn out 1000x better. I skipped the sanding part, put about 6 coats of VHT niteshade and added 2 coats of clear, which ended up actually turning my tails a blue-ish black tint. I didn't go the extra mile in wet sanding and crap because I still have yet to make up my mind on what I want to do with my tails. If I decide to keep them stock and just black them out, I will go about it the right way.
