Never ending alternator upgrade

The 140 amp alternator upgrade on my plow truck has hit another snag. My AC Delco factory rebuilt unit has blown the regulator, I believe this because the rectifier checks out OK. I was surprised to find out that ACD used an aftermarket regulator ( I have since ordered an ACD replacement regulator), go figure, the same people that tell you to use only genuine parts cheap-out on the regulator.

Not surprised since ACDelco don't make any parts. Remy used to be their supplier for alternators, and probably rebuilts, but are not the same company they were years ago. I got a Remy new alternator once and it failed within months. Oddly enough, a new Chinese one lasted to the truck's grave.
