Need help 2002 trailblazer Ltz heard a metal clank when tried to start now sounds like starter not hitting flywheel correctly. Any ideas?

have to get under and look , could be a tooth from the starter gear

How's your battery? Tried jumping it? Can you rotate the engine by hand to rule out that the engine is not locked up?

Thanks for the suggestions. It was the starter. The bolt came loose and busted out the bolt hole in the starter case. Really glad it wasn’t anything more serious.
