NEED HELP Need a Little help installing Waag Guard

I picked up this Waag brush guard from a lady that was selling it on FB last week. She said it definitely fits a TB, but she didn't know what year. It was only $50 so I figured it was worth a try and if it doesn't fit, I could always resell it for what I paid.

Anyway, I can't find instructions to install it any where, I've googled for days and I've finally given up and decided to bother you guys with it. I read that it's supposed to bolt on where the tow hooks are, but I looked under there today, and there is no where at all for it to mount. If you look at the bottom, where the flat part is, that's where it's supposed to mount, unless it's missing some hard ware. I sprayed it flat black yesterday, so if there was any numbers on it, they're gone now. Thanks in advanced guys.

I will take some pics as soon as I am able, the tow hooks, curve around toward the middle of the truck. when you lay on the ground directly beneath where the hooks come in and look straight up, there is nothing but space. I don't see any where this would bolt on to.

Those pics from that link don't show how it's bolted on though, it does show the guard going through the tow hook opening and under the tow hook it self, I just don't get where they connected it to.

Might try TrailX on ortb since I believe he used to have one before his steel bumper.

Likely missing a bracket if I had to guess.

That's my guess as well, that's why I'd like to see pics...or, I'll climb under mine this arvo and have a peek.

ETA: I had a look at mine and it seems as though you're missing 2 brackets, one per side. The brackets need to take a 90° bend towards the centre of the truck to mount where the tow hooks go. You might want to call or email Waag to see if you can still get them.

Is it possible that the bottom crossbar is simply on upside down?

It looks like they should bolt to the bottom of a frame or rail and in your photo, the bolts are going down from above.

I'm not sure if you can tell by these pics how it looks from straight under. you can see how the tow hook goes straight in then curves toward the center of the truck like Matt said. You wouldn't be able to get a picture of the brackets that I'm missing could you? Or even the part number? This brush guard was discontinued and I can't find any vendors that still carry it. but if I at least had an image of what I need, I could possibly have someone fabricate them for me.

I don't. But as I mentioned, you might want to hit up Waag themselves. It looks as though they don't make any bars anymore, but they may be able to help with the brackets and mounting instructions.

Unfortunately, these are the best pictures I have of a mounted Waag guard.
Maybe you can deduce exactly how it mounts based on them.

Someone here or on ORTB has to have one of these with better pics. Waag probably won't be very helpful since their brush guards are discontinued.
I envy your $50 find!

Missing mounting brackets, I'd say. I found this PDF. I know it's not a wagg but it does give some idea.

Thanks, but that's the same one I downloaded to try to figure this out. It's a different kind of mount, same idea though.

This is a long shot, but do any of you have the mounting brackets for the waag guard that they'd be willing to part with? Or know of someone that does? I'd appreciate it, I have cost of parts and shipping to PA.

Can you not have a local metal shop make some up for you? Eh, might be to pricy though.

I think the problem is knowing what the heck they look like to even make one.

I may have found something for you...

This is probably from a Hunter, which goes under the bumper - but from the view, and what you now know re: the Waag brackets, you can probably envision how to fab the bracket, at least...

Turn the bracket 90", shorten the height to tuck under the tow hook (and it will need some substance to it - the weight of the guard will bend a thinner strip), and mount to the 4 holes below.

If you can't get that fabbed, I'd suggest selling it.

It's near impossible finding these mounting brackets. I've been searching my area locally for someone that can possibly fabricate a set, I even contacted Wagg, they said they stopped making guards in 2007 and don't have any replacements. So if any of you guys have these brackets or knows someone willing to part with them, I'd appreciate a holler, thank you.

What about these...? They bear the namesake WAAG... so perhaps this kit (Now on Sale, too...) might just do the trick. Please look at ALL of the listings on the linked page for sub-components ...as either one of more of them in combination might be required to dope out a complete set of functional Brackets:

Can you not put the push bumper through the tow hook holes to see where you'll need brackets? Some plate steel, an angle grinder, a drill, and some patience, you could probably knock them out yourself. Maybe a welder...

I supposedly found someone to fabricate me a set. seems very shady at the moment, so I don't think it's going to work out. I wish I had the skills and tools to fab my own, but I don't. the best idea I came up with is zip ties, LOL. I paid this guy $50 Thurs to do it and he said he'd have them done by Sat. he wrote up a receipt real professional and all that, when I messaged him Sat, he said he was working on a plow and didn't get a chance to start mine yet. Looks like I'm out $50 and still no solution. I can't find a picture of the mounts any where, I've used all kind of search engines, even some totally unknown obscure ones to find any kind of image of what they look like exactly. Looks like zip ties it is.

Give the guy a chance, but stay on him. If he's just a good ol' boy that does some welding/metal fab on the side, he might just be backed up.

Zip ties are probably a really, really bad choice unless you want to run over that push bumper in the near future.

LOL, yeah I was just kidding about the zip ties, I would never do that. But I'm running a little low on trust these days. When someone is confident enough to write you a bill of sales and gives you a solid date, and it doesn't happen, it does make you stress a little.

update, that guy ripped me off. it was only $50 and he seems like he needed the money more than me, so oh well. It's been way past the day he was supposed to have them done and he ignores my messages. I'm just going to write it off as a fail.

So I'm guessing none of you guys on here have the brackets or know someone that does that would be willing to part with them? If by chance someone does, shoot me a pm with your price including shipping. I appreciate it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you.
