Just wondering if anyone else out there has a love for motorcycles like I do. If you got em let's see them. I ride sport bikes, cruisers, sold the dirt bike but thinking of a dual purpose, pretty much if it has 2 wheels then I'm all for it lol. Here is what I currently have, will be bike shopping again here in a few weeks.

I too am I love with the 2 wheels. Don't have any pics (new phone lost em) but ride an 06 R6. Got my race license last year and doing track and race this year. Fix, mod and wrench the bike just like the voy! I'll come back and throw some pic's in when I'm near the pc

No pics but I have a 82 HD FXRS that i bought basically in boxes. Did a full ground up restoration on it. Been riding it for 3 years and it's just about the way i want it...... almost. :biggrin:

nice, my buddy has an 07 R6 same color and everything, actually have a bunch of body work and gas tank, and other spare parts for it lol, who are you racing with? Been around VIR track, south, north and patriot

Always admired the goldwing as well, Yellow Wolf did some crazy stuff on a wing, if you havent seen him or know of him check him out, insane riding skills

I am a wrencher too, i did all this to replace a $2 o-ring lol

Been on two wheels at one time or another since I was 14. Great thread.. you all have some really nice scoots!

Mine is a naturalized citizen I built named the Yamaharley. It doesn't sit well with most hardcore brand lovers.. but I only ride for me nowadays, so it's all good :smile:

I love doing stuff that people tell me I'm not supposed to do, so that's what my bike reflects. These are pics before the dechroming. And it is meant to look all dystopian; pretty doesn't exist in my personal vocabulary haha..

I race in Ontario with SOAR racing last year was my first year as an armature. Got podium 2nd place :smile: at TMP. Any spare parts you want to get rid of?? :smile:.

Also do the 1/4 mile best time is 10.6 @130mph.

Call me a patriotic SOB, but I love my Triumph's. That I3 engine is an intoxicating blend of power and torque....what I like to think of as the "The Goldilocks Effect". :tongue:


Here is my '02 Daytona in it's native environment; the twisties of SoCal. Moved to IL and since sold the bike due to imminent death by boredowm from straight roads and no elevation changes.

podium isn't bad, hell better than I would probably wish for haha. I am trying to think of spare parts..... body work is scratched up and might be sold, fuel rails, injectors are still in good condition

My 96 CBR 600 F3, bought new in Dec 95 and put 17K miles on it. Sold her in 2008 and regret it ever since. Reason to sell was I knew I would get another one after the kids grew up and couldn't justify the occasional joy ride with the wackos on the road now with texting and all the other distractions. Next bike will be more sport-touring or touring....this time of year doesn't help any. :cry:

This was taken just before I sold her...always garage kept and never saw rain.....except for a couple min once. Definately a love-it, hate-it color scheme.

Here's my 2002 Kawasaki Ninja 500. Bought it a few years back as a good starter bike but then our little bundle of joy came along last year. Typical story, no time to ride anymore, etc etc. For sale locally now actually.

I have my MC license but havent bought a bike yet. I had money to get one but after weighing the pros and cons i decided not to get one. So instead of saving the money or putting it to something useful i bought my 22" SS repos. :yes:

Some nice bikes guys. I rode sport bikes for 12 years and really had the fever until I had a bad spill. Road rash head to toe and now have a plate in my thumb. I out rode my limits and got in trouble. After that I still have the same motto, the bikes are safe it's the riders who can be dangerous.

Trying to talk the wife into letting me get a first bike to save on commuting costs. Hoping to find something for 1500-2000 that is solid reliable commuter for 100+ miles a day. May not be possible though

Eh, on a "per mile" you can do just as well as a 45-50mpg bike with a 35-40mpg older Civic or something similar, because motorcycles are more maintanence intensive. $250-$300 (buy online and M&B yourself) set of tires every 8-10k, $200 chain/sprockets every 8-30k depending on how you treat it, valve adjustments, $8 each plugs every 12k miles, etc... Even if you spend $2k on an early SV650, you're looking at a $200+ helmet, clearance $150 jacket and $120 pants (or a $600 1-piece water resistant suit like I wear), $40 gloves, and either your work boots or a $150 pair of motorcycle boots. I wear a $350 helmet, a $600 suit, a $300 pair of waterproof race boots, a $100 pair of gloves, etc.

And living that far away, you'd also have to have a commuter car, so the bike would be an extra to that, even.

Gas would have to be REALLY expensive to even come close to being worth it, $$-wise...

Now, if you are going to own, plate, and insure a bike in the first place (and already have all the gear), you can save money by riding it to work, but you won't save money buying a bike to do so.

Completely understand, but being I want a bike anyway...it gives me a valid excuse...as long as she doesnt read this..to buy one. Considering an atv would be the other toy and it does nothing to help costs, the bike is easier to slip by with.

'97 CBR1100XX that I got in '05, wrecked, with 5k on it. Turned 84,000 this morning, but is actually ~87,000 miles, as I run an 18-tooth front sprocket. Givi screen, Yoshi RS3 slip-ons, Factory Pro jet kit, K&N filter, Completely re-valved front end (Race-Tech Gold Valves), Ohlins shock out back, GIVI wingrack and 3 bags, Heli-Bars, 123 dB horn, heated grips, HID headlight (5000K), Datel volt meter, XM radio with Etymotic ER6i earplugs, LP tank bra, Audiovox CCS-100 electronic/vacuum cruise control, R&G frame sliders, yadda-yadda...

The picture in my sig was from an Buell Inside Pass trackday, and taken aboard an 1125R demo bike. LOVED the bike, but there were so many problems that people I know had with them, I was going to wait until they got them sorted, then Harley killed them. I'll probably end up finding a used Ducati 1098S one of these days...

My first "real" bike, that I sold to my dad when I got the Blackbird, was an '85 Honda Nighthawk 700S with blue trim. I put ~20k on it. Dad tools around town on it, occasionally, and we ride occasionally. I'll look for a picture...

WORD..!!

Whilst you can save a lot of cash by doing your own maintenance, you can't avoid the cost and hassle of frequent tire changes. Even a lightweight twin is going to eat tires at around 10K at the rear.

The best advantage to bike commuting is saving time, and only CA lets you save time by (legally) lane-splitting.

my commuter. Had the option of a new car for my daughter when she was in high school or a bike for commuting and weekend rides. I love riding it daily but now that my daughter is in college and I have my voy back I don't ride in the rain as much.

I have never had a bike and thought something in the 800cc v-twin range would work until i sat on this bike

The bike as most will know it is a 1900cc yamaha raider. I then realized i will need a good size bike so i dont make it look like a scooter.

My thoughts exactly. I am taking a motorcycle safety class in May to help me decide if I really want one.

This would be my justification, assuming I like it. My TB is my daily driver, and my daily commute is 50-60 miles round trip, depending on whether I take the freeway or secondary roads.

Back in the saddle. My last bike was an '02 Triumph Daytona (pictured in one of the post above), which was sold for proceeds to buy a Jeep Wrangler. Still have the Jeep and this past weekend added 2 wheels to the garage. She's sure little, especially as my last 3 prior bikes were Triumph Trident 900, Suzuki GSXR-750 and Triumph Daytona 955i..!! :smile:

But I love small bikes, you can wring the throttle and use them to their fullest in a way that I just simply can't on a bigger bike. I will initially be using the bike for cimmuting throughout Summer and Fall and sving some $$$ in gas. I'm sure a few fun rides will creep in somewhere along the way....:biggrin:

Thanks..!! It's actually a 250. Very small, very light, but still a hoot to ride. Coming from bigger bikes in the past I still cringe about the revs that this thing needs, but they are made to take it and I should just learn to go with the flow more. :cool:

Making the assumption that you're joking about the raw power part, I rode an XB12R on the track, and there were like 2000RPM there at the top, where it was actually "OK." For those 2000rpm, it was really smooth, but not quite fast enough to get around a VFR800 that should NOT have been in Intermediate (this was a Mid-Ohio)! To pass him on the 12, I ended up having to back way off and apex a corner ~15mph faster than him to get enough of a jump on him on the exit that he didn't just pull away once he got it stood up. That is positively the most frustrated I have ever been on the track, and in hind sight, even though I had pulled into hot pit lane to let him get way ahead, I should have just done it again after I caught him.

On my CBR1100XX and on the 1125R, it was a whole different story, though... :biggrin:

The 1125R is ugly as sin, but MAN did I love riding it! I almost bought one when Buell got shut down, but all the issues weren't sorted, and I didn't want a non-supported bike with issues, so I passed...

Ya I was jokking but I love it here in the cities because its small and I love the torque it has to get in and out of traffic
