merry Christmas guys! Got my retrofit source HIDs in last night. Was all excited until I realized that they're missing a plastic bezel. Hopefully I can just buy one at auto zone. Dunno how they could forget to put that on.

That's odd, I haven't seen one in AutoZone before, but perhaps you'll come across it somewhere. Best of luck man

Hope customer service is good I'll give them a call after the new year and see if they can ship one out to me. For 160 dollars it better be next day air . Anyway, hope Santa brought you guys your lift and lowering kits and new SS wheels. You guys deserve it, a lot of
Time and knowledge is put into this site!

I take it you have not ordered from TRS much? A lot of their products are made that way as the same product can be used on many different vehicles by changing the headlight connector. They should have sent out your 9006 connector with the kit, but easily over looked. Happened to me before.

Shoot them an email now and as soon as someone is in the office, they will ship out the 9006 connector. Definitely will not be overnight or next day air. USPS ground since they are paying. Any faster and you will have to pay for shipping.

image.jpeg They mayve sent it to me dmann and I mayve overlooked it. Here's a pic of everything. Does it look like they are missing anything? Never installed HIDs before.

When I got my stuff from TRS it was a while ago with the older kits and they were 9005/9006 plugs on them already so I had nothing to build up. But I think I might have a spare plug housing floating around from something else, and since I'm in Ohio it may be quicker to get them to you from here than from them direct since they moved to Florida from Ohio a few years ago. When I bought my first set of stuff they were still in Columbus and I bought everything on site and got to see their facility at the time.

OP, the item with the red/black wires that has the 9006 male connector on one end, and just pins on the other, there's only 1 of those, correct? If so, THAT is your HID test lead, it's supposed to come that way. That's for powering up the HID ballasts on a test bench. The spare pins can be used with any kind of power source this way, where you'd be restricted if there was an actual connector on it.

Your second pic looks to be correct as best as I can tell from the way you've got it laid out.

Ok. Installed everything today and works flawlessly. Yeah, the side missing the connector wasn't even needed so I feel stupid. Lights are bright. When I shine them at my garage they kinda look like shit. Was kinda expecting to see a nice straight line across the garage door. Maybe they just need aimed.

unless you bought PROJECTORS and retrofitted them into your headlight housings, and not just put HID bulbs in the stocks lights then you don't get a cutoff, cutoffs come from the PROJECTORS.

Hope one of you retrofitters can help me with this... Been doing extensive research, I'm going to be using the d2s with bullet shrouds. I already have the 9006 HID's (see above). The only question I have is, besides the projectors, shrouds, my dremel, and my already installed morimoto kit, and off the shelf headlights, all I have to buy is just a d2 igniter and swap that for the igniter I have now right!?

Unfortunately, your brand new 9006 HID bulbs cannot be used. The D2S projector requires D2S HID bulbs. The base of these bulbs are unique, so you will need to buy a pair of the D2S ballast adapter so you can still use the ballasts that came with your 9006 kit, https://www.theretrofitsource.com/accessories/amp-d2s-ballast-adapter-90-degree.html#.Vo91r59OnqA

I recommend going with the Morimoto XB35 4300k D2S HIDs,
https://www.theretrofitsource.com/components/bulbs/morimoto-xb35-d2s-bulbs.html#.Vo94nZ9OnqA

As far as I am aware, there is no HID projector that uses the 9006 bulb. Majority of the projectors that TRS produces requires the D2S or H1 bulbs.

Other than needing the D2S ballast adapters and a pair of D2S HIDs, it sounds like you are set to start your retro.

Sorry if I'm bad at asking questions. I understand my 9006 bulbs can't be used, just needed to know if I needed the adapters or not. Thanks for clarifying guys

Also, you can use D2H bulbs in place of D2S, the difference is the D2H bulbs have the 2 wires coming out the back, just like your 9006 bulbs do, so you wouldn't have to change your ballasts or igniters. :twocents:

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/components/bulbs/morimoto-xb-d2h-bulbs.html

This is how the Mini D2S 2.0 projectors where done in the BLS V2 (HID CONVERSION) kit for the 98-02 firebirds/trans ams, allows the use of the standard AMP connectors while having the right bulb base to fit the projector.
