BTW I have never received my email confirmation therefore I have not tried to use the site until I was a member however I have come back periodically to see if anything had changed and discovered the user name forum. Can anyone tell me if I have been accepted as I have yet to receive the email.

Welcome to the party. I think only the site admins can speak to the confirmation email bit, but you're good to go for normal forum usage and posting.
