If you live in the coastal regions of the world and tend to either swim, body surf, board surf or boat during the various seasons that these activities get done ... you will be unable to avoid doing these activities without being in the company of ocean going Sharks. As strange as it may sound… you might consider getting your hands on some Neodymium Magnets and rig a few to the extremities of your wet-suits, flippers or even embed them into the edges of your surfboards or belly boards. The reason for making this odd addition to your diving and swimming gear is because having a few of these things attached to either you or your gear… might very well save your life.

Recently… some scientists accidentally discovered that in spite of almost 100 years of trying unsuccessfully to develop effective Shark Repellents… they noticed that when sharks arrive within close proximity to such powerful and electrically inductive Neodymium Magnetic fields ...it so radically throws off their electrically bio-active sense organs called the 'Ampullae of Lorenzini’ ordinarily used to sense the subtle electrical fields around fish and other animals in distress… that it makes them feel like they are being electrocuted. The very strong fields act like Bright Sunshine and Holy Water Bushel Baskets of Garlic to Vampires... and quickly drives them all away.

The fact that all sharks are equipped with these sensitive organelles means that the specialization of genus and and species of sharks become irrelevant. The ND Magnets are universally effective with all of them. The other aspect of this phenomena is that these Magnets are inexpensive, easy to carry… and they never wear out… ‘Batteries NOT Required’. So as long as they are kept away from other necessary life saving electronic gear… they can be passively associated with Divers, Swimmers and Boaters in ways that will allow them to act as Passive Sentries ...protecting you from things that you may never see coming… until after they bite you. So just like that Coleman Cooler you keep on board with the Extra Life Preservers, Medical Kits, Emergency Batteries, CB-Weather Radio, Water and Food… perhaps having a stack of these ND Magnets somewhere on board will make sense if your boat starts taking on water and you find yourself “Swimming with the Sharks”

Those of you who also live in land-locked areas where rivers and tributaries nearby eventually have access either to the Atlantic, the Pacific, and especially the Gulf of Mexico, should also consider getting some of these ND Magnets as more and more… Man Eating Bull Sharks can and will swim several hundred miles upstream in Fresh and Brackish Water and will do their worst when hunting whatever they can find to kill and eat. Not very far from where I live… an Old Man was swimming and having fun in about six feet of mixed Gulf and Fresh Water, right off of his own dock (in civilized Boca Ciega Bay)… just splashing around ...like we humans always do ...when a Bull Shark slipped up on him and bit him half in two… so I know full well that however rare this might seem to happen... this is still no Urban Legend:

The deterrent may not work in all cases… nothing is perfect, of course when it comes to avoiding animals wanting to eat and the extremes they will go to to get you and I if we happen to be on their Menus. But who knows what would have happened if he had tossed out a floating net with an array of ND Magnets staggered underneath the brackish water of Boca. We’ll never know ...and neither will he. So If you begin hearing of such events nearby… consider using your creative imagination if you like being on or in the water.

Tiger, Hammerhead and Bull Sharks are all extremely aggressive when they find humans wading and frolicking ... even in very shallow water close to the shoreline and making the same sounds that injured fish will make to Ring their Dinner Bell. Consideration must be made for things like keeping your laptops and Cell Phones well away from ND Magnets or risk having you hardware being wiped of data. So having these attached to the parts of the boat (on the tips of the Oars for example) or surfboards and diving gear ...well away from such devices will be a good thing to do.
