here is puppy Maximus, he was a rescue and probably one of the best dogs ive ever had, hes a Mastiff/ Golden Retriever mix.
Yes he is pretty big, not even a year old yet, and probably about 70lbs.
had to wake him up for the picture(yes he sleeps with his legs wide open), taken from the built in webcam on my laptop! :wootwoot:

Sorry to hear. :frown:

We had 2 growing up, they surprisingly both lived to be over 12...rare for the most cancerous breed there is!

My two, after an 8 mile hike. Both Chow mix, but not related. The younger one contracted a uterine infection 2 years ago and had to be put down. :frown:

Here's their typical antics. P&S camera didn't have audio, unfortunately, so you don't hear them growling and banging into the patio door.

I think I posted this elsewhere, but I will added them to this thread as well.

Meet Violet's Angel, named after my recently deceased Grandmother. She is an 8 month old Dachshund / Beagle mix. She was born to us on January 10th and is a shelter rescue dog, exactly what my Mama would have wanted.

Great looking pups everyone!!!

Here are some questions for you all......have any of you introduced a newborn into a house with dogs? How'd it go? Any worries about dogs being too hyper, tails hitting the child, aggressive, etc? How did your relationship with the dogs change after your child came home?

I love my Boxers more than just about anything, but I'm worried they're going to fall by the wayside after the arrival of my first born in June. lol I'm going to try my best to keep a good relationship with them....but I have no idea on what to expect with a newborn!

first off every dog will be different. My boxer is great with kids and the boxer breed in general is good with kids. They also protect kids and the property well. I do not have any 2 legged kids of my own but my sister has 3 and frequently brings them over. My boxer has a nub so the smacking with the tail doesn't happen but with my red nose, her tail goes nuts. They will be curious at first but I have not seen any scary moments with the interaction of small children and babies. I have trained my dogs not to jump up on people so that isnt an issue. The only other thing I noticed was when smaller kids would start to play, the bigger dogs would tend to knock them around due to their size (65-90 lbs). Hope this helps you out a little.

I'm on a Boxer forum too, so after reading everyone else's posts about their boxers and kids, I have an idea on what I could maybe expect. My guys get so crazy sometimes though, especially Apollo my fawn, I still don't really know how they're going to be. A lot of people say it's like a switch that goes off, and they're very protective from the day the child is brought home, so hopefully this will be them! I've read tons of stories about how the dogs won't leave the child's side and whatnot. lol

And as always, supervision will be key. My guys get pretty rough when they play with eachother, so it's not like we're going to leave our 3 month old in the middle of the living room floor unattended to get trampled by them. lol

Here are mine. Sadie is a boxer/Ridgeback mix and is almost 10 years old. She was a rescue, and was severely abused and aggresive when we got her. She is still afraid of steps and shoes. Budd is a Beagle/Jack mix and was also a rescue, but he was a puppie when we got him. He likes to eat shoes and flip flops.

The first one is our girl when we first got her from the animal shelter. Poor girl had her ears chopped off flush with scissors as a puppy and found wondering around in a field, she was a mere 14 pounds and had bad case of kennel cough. The second is just from Christmas time and the last time we visited the vet 75 pounds a few weeks ago after a check up.

Again.... I'm not a man but I do have furry friends :raspberry:

Here's a few of our 2 dog's. The black one (Oreo, 6yrs old in pic) is a Black Lab/Boarder Collie/Husky mix, the Brown one (Rodney, about a year old) is...well...we're not sure...we think he has some husky and some St. Bernard and maybe some hound, he's a big boy.
As you can see they love the snow, these were from last winter when we had lots of it too

Oreo is standing, shows how deep the snow was:

This is our dog Scooter. We adopted him from the humane society a little over two years ago. Another group of people were there to look at the same dog, for their daughter, for Christmas. We walked in right behind them... Literally. As my wife and the couple in front of us were ooh'ing and ahh'ing over all the other dogs, I went straight for his cage, and grabbed him. He was about two minutes away from being named Biscuit, and being at the mercy of an eight year old girl. My wife and I couldn't decide on a name, so we left him with the name the humane society had given him. He is more her dog, than mine. When we play fight, he interposes himself between the two of us, and barks at ME! But, all in all, he is spoiled rotten, afraid of stairs, and well loved.

Yea I grew up with a red Doberman, so when the wife and I went to get one we were specifically looking for a red one. Yours is a great looking dog too. Thanks!
