Liftgate strut question

After installing new liftgate struts on my '07 Envoy, the liftgate works perfectly. However, in watching videos on Youtube of the installation process, I discovered that I installed them upside down compared to all the different videos. I put them on with the piston rod on top and cylinder on the bottom. Being that the liftgate works fine, would it be advantageous to remove them and install them in the proper manner or maybe it doesn't make any difference which end is up? TIA..

The way I see it, the only difference it would make is how easy/hard it is for dirt and such things to get inside the cylinder and start ruining it! :undecided:
