NEED HELP Liftgate ball stud

Changed my liftgate struts today and discovered that one of the upper ball studs (on the gate) is loose. It spins freely but not loose enough to see if it's threaded into the sheetmetal or has a nut on the back that's loose.

So, question: how do you go about fixing this? Any help greatly appreciated.

There is a nut on the back. Remove the trim cap on the outside of the and you will see the nut
