Is there supposed to be transfluid in the t-case adapter?
I have a leak and wondering if i just need to replace the gasket between the t-case and the trans adapter.

did you check if the bolts were tight first? If you had the trans or transfer replaced or removed at any time, they could have not loctited the bolts on reinstall. Change the gasket and be sure to loctite the bolts on reinstall.

not 100% sure, but I believe there isn't supposed to be any fluid in there. Might have a bad output shaft seal on the trans.
blah, that can't be changed unless i pull the trans out and have it rebuilt

guess i'm just gonna have to replace that gasket and let the adapter take on trans fluid. I don't have the money or the care to replace the trans for a third time in it. It's not a daily any more.

I guess the adapter should have transfluid in it as there is no seal on the output shaft. the seal on the input shaft to the transfercase keeps trans fluid from going into the case. Try a new gasket. but check the adapter to be sure its not cracked.
